Does Rangers training photo give big clue about attacker?

Jordan Jones’ comeback from injury is in the midst of a touch of confusion after the winger’s training photo of last week appeared to be slightly contradicted by his exclusion from this week’s Porto session.

Jones of course was laid out for many weeks following that idiotic tackle v Celtic, which left his manager reeling, but posted a picture of himself back in action at the end of last month in full Rangers training gear at Auchenhowie

But his omission from Tuesday’s training session was in a sense conspicuous but equally understandable.

The NI winger is coming back from a bad muscle injury, and while he’s clearly back in proper running capacity again, there will be no chances taken with him after Gary McAllister confirmed at the tail end of September that he and Ryan Kent (since fully returned, of course) were both back in light training.

A month on and that has evidently stepped up, but he will be disappointed that he wasn’t part of this week’s Europa League group even if just for the reintegration into the pack.

Of course, he is ineligible for the group stage anyway, but so are Greg Docherty and Jamie Murphy and they were both present for the workout – we do wonder if his continued omission is a little spot of Gerrard’s wrath after the manager’s furious quote following that dismal challenge.

Either way, we look forward to seeing him back in the squad, by whatever means.

  1. I hope SG hasn't got it in for Jones, when you think of the non triers and Alfredo's attitude last year surely Jones is entitled to a second chance, for me the boy has shown enough already to an important part of this squad of players.
