Sheyi Ojo update

In a curious transfer ‘twist’, spurious rumours which appeared on a well-known aggregator site packaged as ‘insider’ knowledge seem to be complete fiction following an utter radio silence on every credible source thereafter.

Earlier this week Sheyi Ojo was linked with a curious permanent move to Rangers, following a generally indifferent start to life at Ibrox, with a transfer fee presumably being in the region of that for Ryan Kent from the same employer.

But the complete whitewash of the story from every credible source in the intervening days, and a total absence of it at Steven Gerrard’s presser today suggests it was a made-up story without any basis of reality.

When more obscure stories start online (be they credibly sourced or not) they usually get into the hands of the printed and broadcast press who decide whether or not to run with it. Look at our Lee McCulloch story of 2013 when we posited that he may have a guaranteed appearance clause – this made it to Sky Sports who did raise the topic and were unable to confirm absolutely that he did not.

And by contrast, none of the stories from this very dubious source responsible for the Sheyi Ojo tale tend to get into the same sphere of credibility, so pinch of salt here.

Nonetheless, unless we’ve missed something, it appears there are no negotiations for this to be a permanent deal at all.

  1. I hope it does turn out to be, just that. Sheyi is far, from the 'complete player.' He's selfish on the ball and not quite there. Now, saying that, he could come good, like Borna. But that is a gamble. I'd rather we spent, elsewhere.

  2. I would drop him been shite for weeks, can't see how he gets a game every week, should have kept candyman better player and team player bad move from Stevie G
