Ryan Jack drops huge hint about Steven Gerrard

Ryan Jack has revealed that Rangers’ success at Dingwall was not so much what Steven Gerrard’s men did with the ball, it’s what they did without it.

Rangers had a fine night on Wednesday with arguably the finest domestic away performance of the season, but while praise was given from all quarters to what the side did in an offensive fashion, it was what they did off the ball as instructed by Steven Gerrard that pleased Jack the most.

Ibrox Noise has long mentioned unsung heroes like Scott Arfield for doing the less noticed stuff off the ball exceptionally well, and Ryan Jack has made direct reference to that as a reason for the outstanding night.

He said:

“Coming here, the main thing we’d spoken about and worked on was off the ball and how we can affect the game off the ball because we know we’re a good side when we have it, so I thought we done that brilliantly tonight and that’s what got us the 3 points.”

As much praise as we can lavish over the performance with the ball (Joe Aribo especially had some lovely moments) it’s the stuff the side does when not in possession that is just as important if not more so, and last night’s result very much vindicated that.

  1. Astonishing that Jack still bagged a brace despite being located at right back covering for the advancing Tav on numerous occasions.

  2. Aye, agree with that. It was good movement and we looked a Team . Delivering consistency is the mark of true champions as we all fondly remember . Onwards 55
