Rangers shocker coming out of Ibrox tonight…

Some Rangers fans have been left stunned tonight following reports that Steven Gerrard is working on a permanent deal for divisive winger Sheyi Ojo.

The on-loan Liverpool winger hasn’t really connected with the Ibrox faithful and his performances, while his stats have been surprisingly decent, have failed overall to win over the punters.

He does, however, appear to be an absolute Gerrard favourite and has a glut of appearances this season, especially in the Europa League so perhaps this story isn’t as fanciful as it seems.

While we had previously attributed his appearances to the usual loan clauses, the word of permanent contracts being banded about Ibrox for his services may hint that it’s more than that, and the manager really does rate him.

It’s a surprise alright for a great portion of the support who really disagree with the manager on this one, but then the Ryan Kent Fallacy always rings true – a winger with potential who the crowd didn’t take to until November when he began to settle and is now a truly spectacular asset who can destroy any defence in the SPL and frankly beyond on his day.

This means Ojo, while not yet the toast of the Main Stand, deserves time like anyone else to hopefully find his feet and prove what a player he is believed to be capable of being.

So maybe it’s not a huge shocker after all.

Or maybe the manager just got this one wrong, if the story is true. Who knows!

  1. Ojo is still young and not played as many games in his life so he will get better but he is still a match winner

  2. Would have got Kent a lot cheaper this time last year, worth the gamble on Ojo given his age, position and potential. Depends on the price of course.

  3. Still raw.
Plenty more to come from him.
Reserve football to Rangers??. Only here 4 months, if the Gaffer and coaches say yes it would be better getting him now before he does a Kent IMO

  4. Bags of potential, the criticism he receives is way over the top. He'll get better and better, although it also depends on the price

  5. Definitely has talentand there is player in there, but looks uninterested and goes missing at times. Deserves time like anyone else.

  6. Havent seen enough to warrant spending money on a permanent contract. Shat out tackles, doesn't track his man and goes missing in far too many games. Bar his goal against Feyenoord I don't think hes done enough.

  7. Ojo has the power to take on a defender good at 1v1s needs to work on his finishing he will only get better if we bay his value can only go up

  8. Who else on the right? I know the replies but isnt that competition? Candeais was well overrated as great a person he was. Its Showing everyone Rangers are it. Defoe gets it. That feeling of bring it on is back. He needs guided but thats a job from age of 16-45
