Propaganda or Profit? Rangers’ board keeps fans guessing…

Rangers’ loss in Berne on Thursday was obviously a painful one for us all to take, but the club’s response has been strong.

Ryan Jack being offered a new deal and strong information claiming Ross Wilson is in line to be new Director of Football.

And Rangers have a long history of this – when things go wrong at Ibrox, the board, be it our present incumbents, or past chiefs like SDM and Martin Bain et al, go to lengths to bring good back to Rangers with strong positive steps.

Of course, some might say it’s just propaganda, good news designed to distract us from a bad result – and of course this is hardly new for any commercial group to carry out when faced with negativity – throw out a big shiny piece of news the supporters/fans/customers will love to steer away from the rotten event which hurt share price/reputation etc yesterday.

Rangers are a commercial group based on trying to profit – maybe not in the traditional sense, in the context that no football club is a traditional ‘company’ – but the base principle is similar.

And as a response to a horrible loss to Young Boys, the club has ramped up the Ryan Jack negotiations and is working on a new DoF.

Of course, it could all be rumours, hogwash and piffle designed to cheer us up and distract from Thursday and James Tavernier and Connor Goldson’s especially bad nights.

Time will tell if it is – but if not, then it shows just how keen this board is to fix things when they go wrong.

And that can only be a good thing.
