Greg Stewart starts – predicted XI to face Young Boys

Rangers travel to Berne tonight for matchday two of 19/20’s Europa League campaign.

Having got off to a flyer on matchday one with a superb win over Feyenoord, Steven Gerrard’s men may find the going a lot tougher in Switzerland with a home side in good form, famous for taking big scalps and having the advantage of an artificial surface.

So what side would Steven Gerrard select for Rangers’ best chance of a precious three points and the first non-qualy away win in Europe since 2008?

McGregor in goal, obvious.

Back four is the first puzzle.

Captain James Tavernier and in-form Borna Barisic will make up the fullback slots, while Connor Goldson will take up his usual slot next to them, but it’s who partners him that is the big debate.

Our money is on Helander – while he struggled on Livi’s surface, these are the games he’s at Ibrox for, and we’d be very surprised if Katic got the call.

In midfield it’s easier. Steven Davis will sit behind Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield, with Joe Aribo continuing to miss out through injury.

And up front, Alfredo Morelos spearheads the attack, while it comes a little early for Jordan Jones and Ryan Kent, meaning Sheyi Ojo flanks one side and either Greg Stewart or Brandon Barker on the other.

So, your Ibrox Noise predicted XI to face Young Boys:

McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Davis, Jack, Arfield; Ojo, Morelos, Stewart

Whether this XI can overcome the conditions tonight remains to be seen.
