Gerrard ‘polite’ but he knows real truth about Hearts

Rangers travel to Tynecastle tomorrow in, despite Steven Gerrard’s polite misgivings about the ‘challenge’ Hearts pose, what should be a stroll of a match against a side second bottom of the table, who Rangers have had the Indian sign over for some time now and who have one win in five.

Just 6 points in 8 matches is some of the worst form we can remember Hearts ever being in, and the disaster over Steven Naismith, including the loss of their talisman, twice, is a major part of why the Gorgie side are in the depths.

Naismith, already out for long term, came back far too early by his hapless manager Craig Levein, and has been ruled out again – he will clearly not be a problem tomorrow.

And the rest of the team has been completely unable to cope with the loss of him – sound familiar anyone?

This plays neatly into Rangers’ hands – with Celtic strolling to a comfortable win over Ross County today to return to the top of the table by a point, Rangers must win over a side languishing at the effective foot of the table to restore our rightful place at the summit, and even a second-string Rangers team should have too much for the home side to even put up a glove, never mind a fight.

Ryan Kent and Jordan Jones are fit again, along with Brandon Barker, and any of the three could feature, but Gerrard will be deeply wary about losing Kent again as a result of doing a ‘Naismith’ with him, so we’d suggest his caution over the ex-Liverpool winger is wise, and learns from his past mistakes.

Either way, Hearts should pose no problem – they are unlikely to sit behind the ball, as it’s just not their way and especially not against Rangers at home, so there will be holes aplenty for Rangers to exploit.

No reason this wouldn’t be a smooth and comfortable win for Rangers.

  1. I makes me nervous when we start to dismiss the opposition, and assume the game will be a stroll. I do hope you are right IN, but if the Rangers players aren't up for the game with the right attitude, then we could have a problem. Because despite Stevie saying Hearts won't raise their game against Rangers, it will be a surprise if they don't.

As long as we get 3 points, that's all that matters.

  2. Strongly fancy us 3-1,with the benjamin button of strikers, the immaculate jermain defoe notching the first goal.I think defoe will start up front against the jambos the morra and morelos will start against porto on thursday evening.
