A comprehensive roundup of Deadline Day at Ibrox

As we brought you on Sunday, Rangers planned a six-man exodus on Deadline Day.

Here is your final, comprehensive roundup as to what happened and how close we were to a full house.

Jason Holt:

We confirmed with you he was on his way to St Johnstone – this was announced on Deadline ay among a flurry of departures – Jason Holt will work under Tommy Wright this season until his Rangers deal expires next summer. Holt, just like the man who ironically replaced him at Fleetwood, Jordan Rossiter, has now effectively left Rangers permanently.

Graham Dorrans:

Freed by the usual mutual consent, we told you he’d be moving on. He was told months ago he wasn’t going to Portugal and he was devastated. Rangers, failing to find a buyer or loan deal, have ripped up the lad’s contract. This was a sad sad tale of a signing that shouldn’t have been made in the first place. Best wishes to him though – he hasn’t yet found a new gig but he’s being linked with Killie.

Joe Dodoo:

Another one whose deal was torn up, he’s got English sides working on an interest and we do wonder if he wasn’t given a fair chance at Ibrox. Good luck to him.

Jake Hastie:

Off to Rotherham for the season, we’re lost as to why we signed this lad. He was rank rotten against us, and despite his numbers at Motherwell he just didn’t impress Steven Gerrard. He was portrayed as one for the season at Ibrox by the official website only weeks ago, so this one looks like it’s just gone wrong. Not that it ever looked like going right in the first place. Not good enough.

These four exits leave the two unwanted wingers in Jamie Murphy and Eros Grezda.

Rangers were unable to secure anything for either of them, and we’re genuinely surprised their deals weren’t terminated. They will now spend the rest of the year on the wage bill and mostly in the Dev Squad, with maybe the odd cameo in the match day squad. Jamie Murphy, maybe, will get a slight reprieve with the injury to Jones and the possible knocks/ongoing with both Ojo and Barker.

But mostly we can be pleased at how much chafe was cut away this window.

Rangers actually did rather well here.

  1. Want to talk about not getting a fair shake, let's look at Jamie Barjonas. Boy has never had a fair go, through the last two or three, Managers. The truly 'forgotten' man.
