Rangers booked their place in the playoff round of the Europa League with an ultimately comfortable second leg win over Danish side Midtjylland (who we’re delighted to never have to spell again).

McGregor:

One duff kickout thanks to a bad passback, but otherwise his usual footwork, and called into action to make one big save. Had no chance with the goal and was otherwise assured. 7

Tavernier:

Quiet night from the captain, who wasn’t seen as much of an attacking force at all, and was equally insignificant defensively. Bright start over the first 10+ minutes but faded into obscurity after that. Did what he needed to. 6

Goldson:

Composed, assured, and aerially dominant, this was a very professional and adept display from a cultured defender who’s recapturing his early season form from last year. Yes, he was done on 3 minutes and equally had no answer for the goal, but overall he’ll be delighted with his display again. 8

Katic:

This was the night Niko Katic announced himself – colossal night from the Croat, soaking everything up and getting everywhere. This is where we start to consider a serious rising value on this guy after performances like this. 8

Flanagan:

Sloppy out ball led to their consolation goal, and otherwise a little ropey after a recent good performance or two. Flanagan knows he has to keep his game up otherwise there’s others ready to take his place. 6

Davis:

Given MOTM and we have no idea why, he wasn’t even our best player in midfield. A solid if unspectacular display, quieter than usual and while he had a few good moments and passes, he gave it away now and then too. 7

Kamara:

Decent, if not as good as the first leg – certainly worked hard but guilty of some loose possession and a lack of incisive passing. 7

Jack:

Not as good as his performance v Hibs, this was Jack at his slightly lesser self – giving the ball away (notice a midfield pattern here) but working hard to get it back. We’ve seen him a lot better than this. 6

Arfield:

Despite maybe not being 100% lung-busting fit yet, Arfield had a great match – his best this season. His work for Morelos’ second was magical and every inch what he’s all about – hard work, flair, vision and power. He shone tonight. 8

Ojo:

Pistol Pete gave this guy MOTM and we agree totally – two assists, a fine goal, and a complete lack of selfishness, Sheyi is growing by match and showing more and more the potential he has. He won a tonne of fouls and but for better refereeing would have won more. Excellent. 9

Morelos:

Another powerful performance from Morelos, with a fine assist in there too (along with his two goals) – the Colombian might just be maturing a bit and he really was a total nuisance for the rearguard. Fractionally behind Ojo as MOTM. 9

Steven Gerrard:

He’ll be thrilled with how the team produced a professional performance, and the quality he had on the bench was a better indicator of the squad’s state than anything. Most of the team really stepped up, even if the overall performance wasn’t completely immaculate. This Rangers team is going places if this keeps up, and the manager is clearly a major reason why. 8
