Dramatic developments hike Morelos’ chances of remaining at Ibrox…

Rangers have been handed a major transfer boost after Crystal Palace confirmed their summer business is done following the retention of Wilfried Zaha.

Having become overwhelming favourites to sign Alfredo Morelos before the end of deadline day, holding onto Zaha has apparently altered the need to bring in a new striker, and following weeks of links to Palace, Morelos knows they, at least, definitely will not be making an eleventh hour to sign him before 5PM.

West Brom are also said to be in the hunt but it is as yet unclear just how serious their interest is, and despite all the toing and froing of various interested parties, Morelos remains at Ibrox.

Rangers of course play in the UEL tonight, and Morelos’ place in the team is clearly an issue of much debate – should he be absent from the match day squad, it certainly casts doubt on his position at the club – while his playing, even from the bench, further enhances the notion he’s remaining.

But chiefs at Crystal Palace have, for their part at least, confirmed their business is done and Morelos will not be going to London.

  1. Good news deffo. He's the best striker in Scotland and a player we should be desperate to keep. AND he's getting better and better..

  2. The boi was outstanding against a rugged team once again trying at every chance to wind him up, he has came on leaps n bounds, his yellow was also unjustified, onwards and upwards!! Alfredo alfredo, watp

  3. Keep the boi, hes gona win us the league him and the other rotating 10 on the park, solid squad solid mentality by tonights standards, great European away result,

  4. Let move on now IN. El Buffalo was always going no where. I for one, am delighted he is staying this season. He is starting to show a lot of maturity than he did last season, apart from his little wobble of getting booked, but that was for a tackle as opposed to his usual antics.
It appears to be the same pattern as last season, stellar performances in Europe, struggling in the SPFL. Gerrard said he will be changing the team against Hibs this Sunday. Changing the team was his downfall last season. We should be looking to keep the same team as much as possible with tweaks here and there, but not changing 4-5 players at a time. Lost us royally in points last season and will only breed inconsistency!! Early days, I know, I pray that I am wrong. We'll see on Sunday!
I see we are signing Brendan Barker. I would rather have a tall powerhouse of a striker to bury those wasted chances that we deliver into the box.

  5. When players wind up Morelos, our guys should back him up by going in tough with the perpetrators. I like Morelos as he sticks up for himself. Us getting bullied in the first two seasons up was a big losing factor for us. Just like the Souness and Butcher days, the mental and physical toughness has to be in the team.
