Sky Sources: “Rangers reach agreement with international”

Sky sources have today confirmed Rangers have come to agreement with Swedish stopper Felip Helander, and the 26-year old defender will join Rangers from Bologna for £4.2M.

As far as we understand, medical and t’s and i’s aside, the deal will be concluded imminently and the former Hellas man will become Steven Gerrard’s eighth summer signing and Rangers’ most expensive in over a decade.

The Sweden international comes highly rated and it’s a surprise that Rangers are managing to pick up a player of this apparent quality for what amounts to ‘only’ sub-£5M but his injury history, as we revealed to you yesterday, doesn’t make for necessarily the most inspirational reading, with his never having managed more than 28 league appearances for any side in his entire senior career.

His CV, though, when fit, is certainly impressive – tonnes of Champions League, Europa League and world cup experience makes his acquisition a serious coup, and his style is regarded as dominant in the air but composed and neat on the deck.

If Rangers can keep this guy fit, it is a hell of a signing, but we reserve a little caution on his ability to do so.

  1. Hopefully he’s a Goldson who never came with good supposed health with his heart. But he’s passed all expectations. This guys maybe a different scenario however.
