Third signing confirmed – another four in the works – busy summer

Rangers today announced Greg Stewart on a two-year day but the borderline TV media blackout would suggest no one came through the Marble Staircase at all.

Nevertheless, over the course of the next four days, Rangers could have taken their summer business up to seven, with Steven Gerrard keen to get as much incoming complete as possible before pre-season.

Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, and Greg Stewart are confirmed, while Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo and Charlton’s Joe Aribo are reported to be close, while Bolton’s Josh Magennis and West Ham’s Marcus Browne are said to be in talks.

Admittedly few of these are headline acts, and indeed Hastie barely counts given the stories about him going back out on loan (unconfirmed), but Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo are certainly interesting additions if the latter gets the deal done for the reported Monday return to Auchenhowie, as has been claimed.

Gerrard said the incoming wouldn’t be like last summer, where 14 came to Ibrox before September, and a few came after that, and so far that seems fairly true.

Whether fans are overall happy with the calibre of player coming in is for them to decide, but it can at least be confirmed formally that Greg Stewart joins Jones and Hastie as a summer signing at Ibrox.

  1. Way behind the times with this story .Magennis NOT wanted by Rangers , agent is just trying to stir up interest.

    • We have no information which corroborates your claims. Although we certainly hope he's not one we're interested in.

  2. Don't want Magennis or Browne. If Morelos stays, don't need Magennis. If he goes, we need much better than Magennis. Get Shankland, much better, to replace Lafferty.
Browne did well in League One, but not better than Docherty who is already ours. We have Stewart, if Aribo arrives, he Stewart and Docherty is enough backup for Arfield.
Just need a couple of CBs and announce Kent

  3. SG better know what he's doing. How many midfielders and wingers do we need? Where the f*** are the central defenders, left backs and strikers? We need to offload the dross (not much of that going on) and then spend properly on the areas which need sorted.

    • We do share these concerns. A bit like every window under SG fullbacks, strikers and CBs have been low priority while wingers and mids flood us. Hopefully this will all thin out properly.

  4. 100% concerned, if the likes of Magennis & Browne are being brought in. Mediocre at best, a total waste of money, at worst. These 'bad decisions' are the type I complained about, all last season. This will go down like a lead balloon, if true.

  5. Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, and Greg Stewart?! Why don't we just skip this season and just hand Celtic 9 in a row!!! Save us all the heartache and constant frustration when watching all the mediocre players that just will not deliver us the league. I know it's early days, however, I just hope there is bigger and better players coming in, and get the dead wood out, because the current crop will be fighting for second place again!!

  6. With the news gerrard top centre half target has been lost for the sake of 100k shows any players we sign will be for wages only or min fee. Club are looking to sell before spending any money it would appear.

    • He has not been lost yet. Selling club has now declared their price, which is well down on the £1 million they quoted us. If we match it, the player can pick where he wants to play.
I suspect he may well end up with us
