These 15 Rangers players have left or may this summer; exodus

With the summer transfer window well and truly open, Rangers’ revolving door is spinning at a stunning rate.

Incoming players are well and truly underway, but the real drama goes the other way, and all the exits which appear to be changing the squad picture in an unprecedented manner.

Ibrox Noise takes you through the confirmed and speculated departures, and what it all means:

James Tavernier – strongly linked with a megabucks transfer to Villa or Brighton, Rangers’ captain has been a subject of speculation for years. Steven Gerrard would expect big money to part with this guy.

Borna Barisic – might claim things are more smooth now with Gerrard, but the fact is if a half decent offer comes in, he’s one Rangers would happily let go. It hasn’t worked out overall.

Joe Worrall – he’s gone back to Forest. Good luck to him.

Gareth McAuley – he’s gone, and no one has any idea where he’ll be next season.

Lee Hodson – contract wasn’t renewed and St Mirren lead the chase for his signature.

Lee Wallace – freed, like Hodson, and looks like he could be a fine signing for Mark Warburton’s QPR.

Ross McCrorie – while Swansea were linked with a permanent transfer a while back, this latest information is of a loan out. Just as long as it’s not to a fellow Scottish club. McCrorie is a fine player and deserves a fine career.

Jason Holt – really impressed Joey Barton at Fleetwood, and despite his ‘season ending’ injury, he’s one the ex-Ranger wants back south permanently. If a deal can be done over the summer, Holt will surely make the move a full one.

Scott Arfield – various PL sides are after him, especially Southampton, and it will take a big offer to persuade the board to accept. Huge player, mammoth, and only a really fancy bid will be considered.

Glen Kamara – a surprise target for Brighton, who seek he and Tav, Kamara’s performances since January on the big stage of Ibrox have alerted the vultures down south and while some fans’ expectations of £30M are a tad high, Rangers do hold all the cards on this one.

Ryan Kent
– gone back to Liverpool and appears to be a serious target for Villa – unless Rangers now match their potential offer, he’s well and truly never returning to Ibrox.

Alfredo Morelos – linked away every window, but the last we heard Newcastle were sniffing around. Marseille are also interested, as they have been for a while, and the upcoming friendly has that added spice. We covered the twists and turns on this one earlier this morning.

Graham Dorrans – rumours of a freeing haven’t faded and the playmaker may well find himself exiting this summer. In Rangers’ defence, it’s not like we haven’t tried with him.

Kyle Lafferty – last we heard, Limassol were interested, and there could be a nice profit there if the Cypriots step up their interest.

Eros Grezda – supposed showdown talks – no idea if they actually happened but it’s all gone a bit odd around the Albanian. No concrete interest to speak of that that we know of, but we do suspect his race at Ibrox is run.

So, at least 15 Rangers players either definitely gone or vulnerable to going that way – Rangers really are thinning the herd this summer as much as possible, and we’ll watch with interest the trimmed squad at pre-season.

  1. The ones leaving should be

    Alnwick, Firth, Foderingham,
    Hodson (obvs now gone)
    Tavernier … if Offered £7.5m +
    Worrall
    McAuley, Barisic, Holt, Rossiter,
    Dodoo, Grezda, Dorrans, Herrera, Lafferty
    Morelos … if Offered £9.5m+

  2. I'd also Send Coulibaly back to Angers …
    If he's not gone already

And I'd Keep McCrorie at the Club
