The Alfredo Morelos transfer saga takes two new ‘twists’…

The Alfredo Morelos departure saga took two large twists in recent days, and what it means is anyone’s guess.

First off, long-time admirers Marseille were confirmed as a friendly opponent next month. The French giants had a bid for the Colombian rejected last season, and their coming to Ibrox will give them and their fans a chance to watch the striker against them, which simply adds one hell of a subplot to the whole thing.

Secondly, it has been alleged that Morelos is not interested in moving to any side who don’t have Champions League football. With Newcastle, Marseille, Eintracht and Nice all being linked, this certainly rules them out if that information is true.

It doesn’t, however, eliminate all the German sides credited with an interest, with Dortmund and Leipzig still very much in Europe’s premier club competition, so if they were to step up their courting of the forward, that’s a move which would interest him. If, this UCL angle is true.

The fact is money talks, and if any side offers Morelos enough cash and Rangers enough of a bid, he will surely be tempted, Champions League or no Champions League – although given how badly he’s choked on around 95% of the big occasions for Rangers and for Colombia, we’re not sure exactly how he’d cope at that level anyway.

Either way, the Morelos saga continues long into the night.

  1. Morelos will be at Rangers next season, along with his usual red cards, hes damaged goods sadly, lets be honest. He needs to step up and start scoring in big games ie The Bheasts !

  2. Clubs of the stature to spend big money won't touch Morelos with the proverbial! "They don't have to, they can recruit others who are not flawed.
I seriously reckon SG will think long and hard about who leads the line next season and being available to play will be a major consideration!

  3. I think we need to be Realistic about how much we can get for Morelos

    1. He needs to start scoring against Them
    2. He needs to cut out the silly red cards

    Selling Him …. £9.5million minimum.

  4. Its that small minded vision we dont need in fans, yous have short memories, yes i agree he needs to curb his stupidity but hes been by far the best stricker in scotland over the course of the season. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves on, we would never of made it to the group stage and do as well as we did without him. Get behind him instead of against him
