Rangers attacker has ‘confirmed’ he’s leaving…

Rangers winger Glenn Middleton’s rumoured loan switch to Doncaster became more real today after the 19-year old followed Grant McCann’s men on social media.

His ‘breakthrough’ season at Ibrox following the much-hyped promotion to first team affairs last year failed to reap the rewards many had hoped for, and after the promising start he made in the Europa League, the ex-Norwich kid rather burned and faded from the front line.

Now following McCann’s cryptic clues about bringing in a new winger, most of which pointed at Middleton, the youngster has ‘confirmed’ the news by following Rovers on Instagram, which is, these days, pretty much iron-clad proof of a move.

Of course Lionel Messi once followed Chelsea, so make of that what you will. And did we really just compare Glenn Middleton with the Argentine legend. Yes, yes we did. Make of that what you will too.

But regardless, Middleton needs extensive minutes and development, and Rangers and Ibrox isn’t the right place for that.

He needs to benefit like Greg Docherty and Jordan Rossiter did last season, by getting a tonne of serious senior football at a good level to prepare him for the rigours of regular top-flight fare.

Of course, coping with the Rangers shirt is quite different to Bury or Doncaster, with all due respect, but hopefully his loan away will make a player of him and he’ll be ready to stake a place in 2020.

IN, could you oblige and expand on this, as it appears you think Glenn Middleton is as good as Messi, just to clarify?, thanks.
