“Point and laugh” – sensational Old Firm double-whammy

With today’s news of a double whammy in Scottish football aimed at Celtic, Rangers fans have every right to feel just a little smug with the developments in Glasgow.

First, news broke that Celtic’s hyped-up pursuit of David Turnbull had fallen through thanks to some bizarre medical discovery which requires preventative surgery, then Rangers confirmed Joe Aribo.

If we’re talking about a day good for Rangers and bad for Celtic, Thursday the 27th would be it.

Now, this is not us overly zealous to laugh at ill-fortune over there – they’re still considerably ahead of us in many ways and the proof in the pudding ultimately is the results and league position once SPL business is up and running again.

But come on – we are allowed to point and laugh after a calamitous attempt at a transfer has left a young boy right where he is in the shire of Motherwell, while Rangers make without doubt the signing of the window so far in the £250,000 transfer of £7M+ rated Joe Aribo.

It’s a good day for Rangers, and frankly us fans haven’t had a lot of one-upmanship occasions over Celtic this past decade.

So gubbing them twice, before they failed miserably to sign a new player, before we successfully do seems grounds to be immature and enjoy it.

While Celtic still won the lot last season, they’re probably going to lose one of their key players, while Rangers appear to be building in the right direction for next season.

Bring it on. Well, with the players who pass medicals, we reckon…

  1. Feel the burn🔥🔥🔥 and we've not even kicked a baw yet😂💪

    WATP🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  2. He will be a good signing and so will Jones. Davis was already at the club apart from that there is not much to write home about so far.
I think Aribo will be a cracking player.
Still think we need better players to come in and strengthen the starting 11

  3. Rangers still require a quality striker to partner Morelos. Also a leader at the heart of defence and still more quality in midfield. Quality costs money Mr King?

    • Midfield; Kamara, Jack, McCrorie, Arfield, Aribo, Polster, Davis, Docherty… yes, we can see we lack quality in there… what a pile of nonsense!

    • With the exception of Arfield and given Davis is in the twilight of his career the other names you mention have still to prove their quality at the highest level. Who would you say stands out as a creative midfielder in the names you mention given Arfield plays further forward?

    • You asked for more quality in midfield, not creative midfield. In terms of creative, are Arfield, Aribo and Docherty not enough for you? As for the highest level, not quite sure the SPL counts as the highest level!

    • Unlikely Docherty fill feature much and hopefully Aribo will give us a cutting edge – still reckon a partner for Morelos along with possibly Skirtel at heart of defence and one more midfielder,as would be good to make some progress and advance in Europe against better quality teams. The money generated from season ticket sales was promised to buy the extra quality players Gerrad requires to allow us to compete with the other half of Glasgow?

  4. I think there's a lot to excited about with the quality of attacking players we now have. IF we get Kent back and it's a big if then we have an embarrassment of riches from midfield, attacking wide areas and maybe add a striker and a CDF.
Jones and Kent on the left direct and tricky, Ojo and candy on the right both direct as well then morelos and Defoe both finishers.then add goals from aribo, Arfield and Jamie Murphy. Stevie G has also said that he has coaching kamara to shoot and is very pleased with his aptitude for it. So I for one am looking forward to the season starting.i can see a few teams getting a a right pumping this season. Watp
