Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have a chance to create history on Sunday with a stunning stat giving some idea just how in-form Rangers actually are right now.
The SPL split has been in effect for 18 years, since 2001, and in all that time not even Uncle Walter’s Rangers has managed to win all its fixtures in that period.
Not even the mighty Walter Rangers of 2007-2011 or Alex McLeish’s treble-winning Rangers after the split began was able to win every split match.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers is one fixture away from achieving that – 3 points at Rugby Park will mean a full haul post-split, which given how inconsistent and at times poor we’d been up to it and how low our hopes on the site were of a good points haul were, is frankly absurdly astonishing.
And yet here we are, one goal conceded, four clean wins in a row following another two pre-split and on the cusp of a small piece of history.
Impressive, to say the least.
On reading this piece by IN i immediately went on google to check the information about the split. I cannot believe that eighteen years have passed since the introduction of of a stupid idea has passed but there you are. Well i hope we make history and put a real dampener on Killies celebrations. Lets go out on a high and pump them 6 nil.
7 nil, for their cheek. Make it so Rangers!
On the other hand after Aberdeen being handed 3 points against Ceptic in the final fixture of last season to rob us of second place there would be some poetic justice in Kilmarnock beating us robbing Aberdeen of third place.
A few other things to correct here. They are the only team we've not beat in the league and as a consequence are the only team with a better head to head record against us.
Not quite sure what you’re ‘correcting’ here Rob?
I meant the team to put a few things right.
Heard Clarke is also away to Scotland.
Since 2016 we have had 13 league games against Killie… 3 wins! 2 at home out 7. 1 in 6 away. Talk about a bogey team! When he goes that's like another 7-9 points gained!
Thanks Ibrox Noise,, nothing like jinxing our team for Sunday, just like the commentators curse, lol.
Throughout the season, especially in December and after the new year was when we needed those stats, when the league and cup were in our hands to win!
I like the stats, however we must include that we had nothing to play for, the pressure was off. It appeared to me at Rangers from the beginning of the season, is that second place was the goal and would be successful. To evidence that, Mark Allen and Ryan Jack have both publicly announced that second place was a successful season?! Really! Not the kind of mentality I want at Rangers!!!
Come on Rangers…make it a clean sweep.
Good luck and wish Stevie Clarke all the best, regardless of what you think of him he’s done a great job at Kilmarnock and I would rather they took third than that wee turncoat at Aberdoom.
Agree he's done a great job at Kilmarnock but couldn't give a shit what he does at Scotland. I imagine he will turn them from a bunch of over hyped under achievers to a bunch of hard to beat over hyped under achievers.

Hope he does Rob. Scotland are never going to be world beaters but improving our embarrassing results of late would be very welcome.
