G-Mac confirms star man’s Rangers season is over

Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister has confirmed star midfielder Scott Arfield’s season at Ibrox is over after the Canada international was given dispensation for a holiday before his summer of football with Canada.

The outstanding player against Celtic, Arfield’s stock has consistently risen this season, and the former Falkirk man has been one of Ibrox Noise’s favourite and most highly-rated players this entire campaign, and we can safely say we’d much rather not risk his fitness on the horrors that are Kilmarnock’s pitch (more on that later).

Instead, he is off now on a well-earned holiday and will then hook up with Canada later on CONCACAF Gold Cup duty before returning for pre-season at Ibrox later on in the summer.

The ex-Burnley star’s value rose exponentially over the course of the season with several fine performances, and his importance to Rangers and Steven Gerrard is borderline indispensable.

So he’s certainly earned a bit of time off, although it’s safe to say Rangers will be weaker for his absence.

  1. A chance for others to step up or for Gerrard to tinker with the team, maybe play Morelos as the striker that drops off or just go a straight 4-4-2
