Stevie confirms big target after previously refusing to comment...

As Ibrox Noise brought you a month ago, Steven Gerrard has now belatedly confirmed his interest in Motherwell’s Jake Hastie.

We noted with interest his refusal to comment on the story, implying deeply strongly that he was indeed targetting the winger, and that has been borne out today as for the first time the Rangers boss admitted the story is out there and he wants to secure the attacker’s services.

He said:

“It’s no secret that there’s an interest there. But until we get it complete there’s nothing really to say on it but I’m not going to sit here and deny it because obviously it’s out there that there is interest.”

Gerrard’s style for transfer deals is pretty clear – we at Ibrox Noise have been focusing on transfers and player rumours for some time, and we’ve learned when stories are real and when they aren’t.

We will always endeavour to bring you the most interesting ones, but Gerrard’s tact for real stories compared with fictional ones is usually the biggest giveaway of all.

And before too long he’ll hope to get Hastie wrapped up.

  1. The lad looks like a player whether he can wear/carry the jersey is another story. As long as we don't have to pay over the odds.

  3. Is this our level now Stevie G confirms a big target signing a teenager from Motherwell that's not looking good for us . Do we honestly think bringing Greg Stewart and Jordan Jones we are in big Soapy buble. Mean while the manager with the teeth the same colour as the incredible hulk scrapes by with another one nil victory. Methadone teeth won't get the gig at the east end beggers stadium and that's bad news for us Him staying there is our only hope of stopping 9 and 10 in a row. They won't give him the job skid marking his way to the title.

  4. If he's our big target for the summer we are in trouble next season. May as well just hand the manky mob their 9th title now

    1. No one has said he is our big target. He is a young Scottish player with potential and in our current financial situation we have to take a punt on these guys. That's not to say we won't make bigger signings. We need many players.

    1. Yes let's sign the Swansea forward who is doing so well that you can't remember his name. If he was doing so well then we can't afford him.
