Ibrox shock – flabbergasting transfer link emerges…

Flabbergasting reports this morning allude to Hibs’ reported interest in Rangers’ Greg Docherty, with the 22-year old currently tearing League One up at Shrewsbury.

The-now attacking midfielder has been a revelation down south with the Shrews, and is now surely ready to stake a claim for a first-team berth at Ibrox, but Paul Heckingbottom is rumoured to seek the powerhouse’s services either on loan or as a permanent deal.

But comically, after the Scott Allan and, to a lesser extent, Jason Cummings fiascos, it appears an absolute farce that Hibs would think Rangers would do them a favour.

And as an avid Rangers fan himself, Docherty will hardly be keen on going to Easter Road given the animosity between the clubs over the years and his certain awareness of that whole Allan farce, so we really can’t see why Hibs of all clubs think they can acquire such a prized asset.

Unless, that is, Steven Gerrard truly is washing his hands of Docherty and doesn’t have him in his future Rangers plans.

That would be a shame, a true shame. There have been some suggestions about Scott Arfield (more on that later) to justify Docherty, but for now, we can’t fathom any circumstances other than ludicrous money for Rangers to ever allow such a promising talent to enhance Hibs’ XI.

We sure as HELL can’t see why we would ever loan these people such a talented player.

Answers on a postcard.

  1. Let's be honest here. We have plenty of players for center midfield. I don't think Stevie G rates him and will obviously play kamara before him. Mccrorie, jack, arfield, dorrans, Davis will all get played before him.
I personally like him and would give him the pre-season to prove himself.
If he's not up to it out him back out on loan. I wouldn't give Hibs the shite on the bottom of my shoe but I would give him to a Ross County

    • To make Hibs stronger against Celtic and weaken them when they play us as their star midfielder would be ineligble.

It makes sense to loan good players to other Scottish teams. Celtic benefitted this way many a time…

  2. If we are not going to play him, and it's only a 6 or 12 month loan while we weed out some of our midfielders, and he can score against our competitors but not us, like Ryan Christie Fine.
But he is not for sale, he is the future

  3. Im not surprised by anything Gerrard does now, l would bring the boy back home where he belongs, even mentioning the spoon burners is an insult

    • lol … brilliant. We should be in no rush to offload this young man… not permanently anyway, our midfield needs some genuine quality, quality this player could learn from or see how he develops at another club on loan … just not the "spoon burners" (sorry BB … a couldn't resist that) but maybe Hearts …

  4. This is pure speculation Docherty will be back at Rangers unless 2 Million is bid by another suitor. I like the lad very much and think on his day he's better than Ryan Jack stronger and more aggressive too.

    • Bill, Ryan Jack is unequivocally not going to be part of our midfield moving forward. Personally I have never rated him, we won't win the league with him as a permanent figure in midfield, that's just an opinion there may be some who disagree with me.

  5. I'd put Docherty in front of Jack all day long. Docherty runs back to cover the defence, Jack doesn't! Jack is average at best.

  6. Give the boy a chance Jack doesn't do enough by all accounts he could take his place easy the little I seen of him he could do a job at ibrox no probs

  7. HW have the chance to save a wage , to have a playr play prem. football and get lots of playing time . We still hold his contract and can recall him .Is that so stupid.
