Unwanted history made at Ibrox as Gerrard achieves this horror stat

There is no question Steven Gerrard’s Rangers record against second-place rivals Aberdeen this season has been absolutely ghastly.

One win the whole campaign in 6 attempts is the only highlight of an otherwise abysmal season against Derek McInnes’ men, and a further unwanted stat for Gerrard sadly breaks Rangers’ history books;

This is the first season ever that Rangers have lost to Aberdeen in all three main domestic tournaments. Two losses in the league, and two in both cup competitions have created a dubious precedent and certainly undermined Gerrard’s credibility against our peers.

Despite the majority backing the manager, nevertheless this debut season, while progressive on many fronts, has seen real failures against Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Celtic – and they’re the teams we need to do much, much better against.

But to create this kind of history is not what we want to do – not Murty, Warburton or Pedro stooped that low – indeed, Pedro strangely had the measure of McInnes.

Gerrard has a lot of work to do this summer to convince his doubters he’s the right man to keep Rangers going forward.

  1. We've lost once to them in the league. But the point is valid, our style of play doesn't work against better defensive teams when we don't move the ball quick enough. The Celtic point is not valid as we've played them twice, won 1 lost 1. He does need to change it up against aberdeen and kilmarnock though as we really struggle against them most of the time
