St Mirren will have to break a 28-year record if they are to get a win at Ibrox today, with Rangers’ stunning record against our Paisley friends a genuinely haunting stat to make any white and black fan shudder.
Since 1991, St Mirren have not managed to win at Ibrox in any competition, with only two draws secured in nearly three decades. Which equally means, simply put, they have never beaten Rangers at Ibrox in the Premiership’s current format.
It’s not the only staggering stat counting against Oran Kearney’s men – they have also lost 11 of their last 13 SPL fixtures against Rangers, while failing to keep more than one shut out on their travels for the past 18 matches.
It all adds up to what really should be a surefire win today, and it’s not even arrogance to suggest that anything less than a comfortable stroll against the basement side of the league would be a catastrophe of epic proportions!
