One Rangers man will not be happy with Glen Kamara arriving

Last night’s late late show of securing Finland international Glen Kamara was nice little end of window treat for Rangers supporters.

The former Dundee star was regarded as the Dee’s best player by a distance and with his being out of contract this summer Steven Gerrard was willing to wait.

The player, however, was not. Glen Kamara, professional or not, had made up his mind and his heart was in Govan long ago. We heard many stories his head had dipped and he’d downed tools, with zero desire to play for the Dens Park side any more knowing he was out of contract the following summer and Rangers were seriously interested.

Whatever you think of that, of those stories, Kamara’s ability cannot be questioned and now we have a player with several caps for his nation who can score as well.

But as much as we’ll cover the player himself in later entries, we must offer a little spot of sympathy to Jordan Rossiter who has had to travel to the modest climes of Bury to get a game while a player only a year or two older has taken his place permanently at Ibrox.

Rossiter has gone to the Giggs Lane side determined to get minutes and game time to prove himself, but just like Greg Docherty in the last window (who has been a revelation for Shrewsbury) Rossiter sees his place at Ibrox taken by a Gerrard signing when he’ll have felt the manager should have stuck by him instead.

There’s a big condition here – Jordan Rossiter has next to no SPL experience. Signed in 2016, he’s only made a grand total of 10 appearances in the SPL and a total of 48 matches in football, period – including the Premier League 2 and a sole EPL appearance – something often overlooked by many.

Kamara, on the other hand, has 54 appearances in English football and 64 in Scotland – which is a hell of a lot more experience.

Of course, Rossiter’s injuries are why his career has been derailed – but having regained fitness it seems Steven Gerrard just trusted the likes of Ross McCrorie, Ryan Jack and even Andy Halliday instead. And all three of these guys have been increasing stand outs this season.

But that won’t make Rossiter feel much better – his place has been taken by a new signing, a four and a half year deal signing and that really does put massive pressure on him now. It’s likely Rossiter has played his last game for Rangers given the wealth of competition and the fact Rangers have Greg Docherty (and even Jason Holt) to return in the summer too.

But you never know, there could still be a future for the anchor at Ibrox. Football’s a funny old game.

  1. Rossiter, Rossiter, Rossiter…I'm sorry, but it is NOT our fault, that Jordan is 'glass-like' It won't be that, if he picks up another injury, whilst at Bury. People need to put team, before any player. Good & fit, hardy players like Alfredo, bring value. Rossiter IS a good player 'when he's fit.' But there is a feeling with Jordan, that he could be out for months, again at any time. That, is not OUR fault. Too many people forget, Rangers are also, a business. Bad business, costs us money. There has been far too much 'bad-business' of late, i.m.o. Like NOT, getting RID of Herrera and Pena in this window. Loaned out, again?? You get my point.

    • Don't think anyone could accuse Rangers of not standing by Rossiter. The lad needs games and lots of them which hopefully he will get at Bury. I hope he goes on to prove everyone wrong wherever he plays. He deserves a break.

  2. Where's Kamara going to fit in when our midfield is packed all ready with 2 due back in the summer ???…No Surrender…

  3. I looking forward to seeing Rossiter to well, I like you guys can see a whole lot of talent and fight in this boy and his attitude is second to none. I do hope that he can get 10 -15 games under his belt and play well for Bury.

Im going to be honest, I didnt really know of Kamara before our interest in him and have only seen footage on youtube (best bits obviously) and he seems like a really good player. He looked like he has bags of ability, strong and reads the game well. For a team of Dundees level he might find it difficult, but for Rangers he looks like he could be a great addition. He also has made 7 appearances for the finish national team which is always a good thing regardless the country.

  4. Can NI explain this line "Kamara’s ability cannot be questioned"
This is a player who can hold a place down in the DUNDEE team. So obviously Dundee has been questioning his ability.
Where is he going to play considering Davies is a better player and he had to take a place on the bench.

  5. Highly unlikely that Rossitor will play for us again, either will Jason Holt. We have Dorrans to return (hopefully) plus Docherty in the summer. All that may be required then is that elusive attacking creative midfielder and they, as we know, dont come cheap

  6. I like Rossiter but we cant afgord him time to get bk to sharpness…have to admit this Kamara guy might just surprise gers fans. His ball control and first touch is first class and his work rate and physicality are similar to coullabily before he…well god knows what happened lol

  7. If it's true that Kamara "downed tools" at Dundee then he is not a player for Glasgow Rangers. I have no time for players who think they can choose when to play. It's a serious character flaw for a footballer. I'm disgusted when I see Pogba strutting around like a superstar having downed tools for Mourinho while showing total disregard for the fans.

  8. We need to let Rossiter Go!
Fed up with people on #TeamRossiter!

We have given him long Enough!
    He's just Injury Prone

We need to shift him and let another Team Try!
