Gerrard makes big midfield call for Dundee

During his pre-Dundee presser, Steven Gerrard has confirmed Glen Kamara will continue in midfield tomorrow for the visit of the former Arsenal man’s old side, although we don’t yet know if that’s still ahead of Ross McCrorie or in a revamped centre, as Gerrard is wont to do.

The Scandinavian has become a fairly instant Gerrard favourite following his move from Dens Park, and having started the last three in a row is set to retain his slot when Jim McIntyre comes to town.

Gerrard said:

“I’m sure he’s looking forward to the fixture tomorrow. He’s playing. He’s playing tomorrow.”

It’s maybe not that surprising that the anchor man is starting again – a lot of Gerrard signings don’t get into the team quickly or stay there, but the January acquisition seems to have defied that and clinched a midfield berth as his own.

Whether he is totally justified in keeping it yet, especially over the recently-outstanding Ross McCrorie, only time will tell, but his manager, for now, seems to be preferring his new player and it’s up to him to show he’s worth that preference.

  1. To be fair I think MC Crorie is a different kind of player . Kamara seems much more composed . I'm really happy to have both in our squad . I would go further to say they they might be the two best in that role in Scotland .

  2. SG mentioned himself that it depends on the game and if it was Celtic it would be McCrorie. That doesn't sound like he doesn't trust him, just that he is more defensive, which is logical for a CB turned CDM. We don't need that against weaker teams.

    • Technically true, but the whole collection of Nordic nations can be crudely labelled that way for general understanding purposes. But you are right, it's not.
