In what was a highly entertaining and extremely feisty Scottish Premiership
encounter last time out, Rangers managed to secure an impressive 4-2 victory over rivals Aberdeen to earn a crucial three
points.
Steven Gerrard’s men made hard work of their eventual triumph on the road,
with the hosts having pushed them strongly in the opening 45 minutes. However,
a red card for Scott McKenna and damaging Gers goals knocked the stuffing out
of the home side.
In-form frontman Alfredo Morelos, who was linked with a high-profile
departure from Ibrox during the course of the January transfer window, was on
target twice during proceedings, bagging a brace in the clash.
Meanwhile, new signing former England international hitman Jermain Defoe
also hit the target after James Tavernier slotted home his penalty. This result
saw Gerrard’s Glasgow giants move within just six points of league leaders and dominant champions
Celtic.

Gerrard failed to lift the English top-flight with his former club Liverpool
during his playing days at Anfield, but the current crop of stars on Merseyside
are 5/4 in Betfair’s odds to win Premier League 2019 this season under Jurgen Klopp.
Meanwhile, the Anfield icon will have silverware success within his own
sights this current campaign on Scottish soil, with the new six-point gap being
a lot more encouraging heading into a crucial stage of the season.
Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys previously looked like rampantly running away with
the title once again but Gerrard has kept his men firmly in the title race, and
upcoming Old Firm battles will now be huge and potentially decisive
occasions.
So can Gerrard guide Rangers to a stunning title triumph? There’s a long way
still to go throughout this campaign but on the back of such a hard-fought and
admirable league success against Aberdeen, prospects look much brighter.
Celtic haven’t looked the dominant force they have been in past campaigns
during this term, which also gifts Gerrard and his side some hopes for the
remaining games to come.
If the former Liverpool midfielder can maintain the pace with Celtic, avoid
any further slip-ups and perhaps gain the advantage in the next Old Firm clash,
then anything is possible.
Celtic are, of course, on the road towards a hopeful eighth consecutive
Scottish Premiership crown this season, a supreme streak which proves a lot
about the standard of their competition when Gers were batting their way back
up towards regaining prominence in the top-flight division.
A title win for Rangers would see Gerrard not only cement himself in the
club’s history at this early stage of his managerial career, perhaps with a
future eye on the hot seat at Anfield, but also dethrone bitter rivals Celtic
and his former Reds boss Rodgers as well.
There is still all to play for the Scottish title race is really heating up.

Nice positive article Ibrox Noise. I think personally it is going to be a mammoth task but it is doable if we keep winning games. Celtic have a few young loanees in their starting 11 and if we keep the pressure up they will start to feel it. The worry for me is our away form and the pressure we seem to put ourselves under in games(usually for no reason). Keep believing..WATP
Agree with WH on the size of the task. I think it is still too early for us and there are 2 good reasons why I believe that:
1. Our current form is not very good despite the result against Aberdeen. Indeed it hasn't really been consistently good at any time this season and other than the odd game here and there we have never really looked like champions.
2. At the moment it likes no one is going to lay a glove on Ceptic and their early season lapses seem to be behind them. I don't think we can do it on our own.
That's not a bad thing. We are where I thought we would be at this point, much better than last season but not quite there yet. If we can continue to progress then hopefully next year.
As Much as I Love Rangers, I don't think we are going to achieve it this season
It pains me to say it, but Celtic have one thing, we don't. Consistency. Once that issue is addressed, then maybe. But I doubt it will be this season. I hope so, but doubt it very much. Sometimes our worst enemy, is ourselves.
