Steven Gerrard has just made a massive statement

Steven Gerrard has tonight made a big statement by rejecting a loan exit to Dundee for Ross McCrorie as part of a deal to bring Glen Kamara to Ibrox now.

McCrorie, whose form of late has been outstanding, attracted attention from Championship side Swansea who were expected to make a bid – as yet none has materialised, but with the Dee trying to nab the rising star of Ibrox away on a 6-month loan, it would have guaranteed the signature of the Finnish international now.

But Gerrard evidently values the Auchenhowie graduate as a first-team member and wasn’t willing to use him as a makeweight to get his Dens Park man now.

It’s a big statement – and it does slightly question why Rangers are in the market for so many central and defensive midfielders, such as Kamara himself, if we aren’t intending to shift any of the existing ones.

Moreover, this certainly promotes the idea McCrorie will play a far bigger role this year at Ibrox.

A good decision.

  1. McIntyre must think Gerrard is buttoned up the back. Kamara for McCrorie? Even on loan is it April 1st already? We'll give them Carlos Pena or Jamie Barjonas.

    • Lol what have Dundee done wrong to end with Pena we couldn't give this guy away in a lucky bag. Oh and is this ponce back at our famous club yet.

  2. Yes, I agree such a swop is ridiculous. However….. unless we have injuries, does anyone honestly expect McCorie to fill a starting position ahead of Jack, Davis or Arfield? And whatever formation we play, there will only ever be the need for 3 midfielders, especially with the number of wingers we have and an enhanced strike force. So, frankly I don't think we need Kamara, just now:nevermind McCorie – who would be a definite starter in any SPL team:apart from Celtic. And 4 months of playing every week, at the same level as we are playing every week, would do wonders for the boy.

  3. I think Jamie Barjonas is as good, as Docherty. Only difference is, Docherty got a fair chance to shine. Jamie, never. We need to try and sell, Pena. Even if we take a bit of a loss. It's still cash, back in the pot. It's funny how some players get several chances, yet others (Barjonas) get none. Is Hererra off the books, yet? We never loaned it out again, did we??

  4. Yes, I've always liked McCrorie, boy bleeds blue blood on the park. He has learned so much under Gerrard and Co, and learns from previous mistakes. The lad was brilliant against shellic and will be regular for Scotland in the future. We need McCrorie in our squad for what is going to be a right battle to the end. I hope a deal can be done with Dundee, Kamara could be quite useful in the run in.

  5. Off topic here guys but boyd today on talksport blowing kisses up Rodgers arse for the Leicester job. Now not that I want our manager to leave but why is he never linked with EPL jobs that sunbed Sam gets mentioned with.

    • Stevie G doesn't have his Pro license yet so is not qualified to manage in the EPL. Might be different next season though if he gets his vadgb and wins the league

  6. Bigbaws am I being daft here why have hired him if he does not have those credentials I ain't complaining though a think he us doing a smashing job for our club.

    • Yes Scud you're being daft. We hired him because he is Steven Gerrard, football legend, who has forgotten more about football than half the numpties the get their coaching badges will ever know.
