Rangers make surprise move for former SPL regular….

Rangers have today been linked with a curious move for Derby County’s 32-year old midfielder Craig Bryson.

Viewed by some as ‘past his best’, the former Killie man would be another addition to Rangers’ already billowing midfield which has seen Steven Davis and Glen Kamara added to Ryan Jack, Jordan Rossiter, Scott Arfield, Ross McCrorie and Lassana Coulibaly.

The ex-Cardiff man has made plenty of appearances under Frank Lampard this season at Pride Park, but last season was far less involved. The Rams currently sit 6th in the Championship.

Bryson is a former Scotland international, with a handful of caps, and plays both central and defensive midfield – but if there’s one position Rangers are rather well equipped in, it’s the middle of the park.

Fulham’s Kevin McDonald was also being touted for a switch but that one went very quiet indeed, and with Rangers working on getting Finland’s Kamara now rather than this summer, the emergence of Bryson is certainly curious.

He wouldn’t be the worst player on earth to sign, but Rangers surely do seek enhancements to the squad, not shirt-fillers.

Quite which one he falls under we’re not so sure.

  1. Ffs … enough with the defensive midfielders, it's offensive players we need … and quality ones at that.

  2. Coulibaly is crap and is on loan, we could send him back.Rossiter clearly has no future at the club. Mccrorie is a young player and still developing. Kamara can't hold down a place in the Dundee team. Jones is a winger. Bryson might not be bad signing depending on his wages and fee, we shouldnt take him on loan

  3. I too heard the rumour today. But I also heard it's just media talk with no foundation, and that there's no truth to it. Time will tell…

  4. Agree strange one but Geerrard would not be using his budget on him if he was not worth it, has done pretty well with signings so far

  5. Geo is right: He has very strong sympathies in the opposite direction. That wouldn't be a problem if he could play but his best years are well behind him.

  6. No, No and No.
