Dramatic Saturday developments suggest Rangers’ 5th signing imminent

Rangers’ transfer window today may have taken a significant boost following imminent new signing Glen Kamara’s absence from Dundee’s match day squad today to face Queen of the South.

The 23-year old Finnish international confirmed a pre-contract earlier this month, but is determined to get the move to Ibrox now rather than waiting till the summer, and his non-presence in the Dee’s match day squad never mind first XI was the biggest clue that manager Jim McIntyre is ready for him to move to the south side of Glasgow now rather than his star player leaving in the summer for nothing.

Kamara has made it perfectly clear he is finished at Dens, and unlike a certain new Hibernian signing of recent days is willing to do what it takes to get his move to Rangers now, even if it means rotting in Dundee’s reserves.

The defensive central midfielder is seen as a crucial addition to Rangers’ midfield – Rangers lack a lot of dynamic midfielders who can maraud in the engine room while supporting defence – only really Scott Arfield supports that role at present, and Kamara would be an excellent addition for that berth.

This signing really should be confirmed within days.

  1. Really. Come on to fu#k IN. The guy can't hold down a place in the Dundee team and you expect him to be an excellent signing. How the times have changed when a bit part player at Dundee is signing for us

  2. Never really thought of Arfield as that guy to be honest. When you say marauding in midfield while supporting defence, I think CDM. So Jack, McCrorie, Coulibaly and Rossiter, probably in that order.
Central midfield I would put Davis, Halliday, maybe Dorrans, then at Central Attacking I would have maybe Dorrans. Also Arfield and Murphy who can both play CAM or LW.

To be honest, I struggle to see where Kamara fits in. We have 9 midfielders of whom only 1, Coulibaly, is on loan. We have several out on loan, although perhaps only Docherty could hope to make the first team squad next season. So I would say we need to lose 3 to leave us with 2 bodies for each position in a midfield 3. If we go 4-4-2 then things get worse.
We have some good young midfield players who will need bench and game time. I am not sure how they are going to get it, although I accept that SG may prefer them to go out on loan and play. That seems to be his preference and I am not going to disagree with him. Bow down, yes. Disagree, no

  3. Never seen Kamara play tbh (I don't think) but I respect the opinion of Neil McCann who said before we signed him that whoever signed him would be getting a top player in the Patrick Viera mould who would make that club millions in the future. Let's hope he is correct and please give the guy a chance to show us what he can bring before we condemn him as a Dundee bit part player.

  4. Its about time you ban people who use foul language on this site children follow Rangers and should not be subjected to reading this type of language

    • Hi George, appreciate your noble sentiments but as honourable as they are this isn’t a nanny state. It’s a football site and industrial language is commonplace. Furthermore football grounds themselves are filled with much much worse yet they’re filled with kids too. It would be a tad unreasonable to ban bad language from a football stadium.

  5. Dundee fans are delighted he's leaving. That says it all for me. Anyone recall a stellar display from him? The McCann Viera patter is absolute BS. He'll be another bleed on our resources who will contribute nothing. Worst signing of the SG era IMO.
