Are these seven players vulnerable to the Rangers chop?

With Steven Gerrard now alluding strongly to any further additions this January being dependent on exits, Ibrox Noise takes you through a who’s who of who we think is vulnerable to being moved on over the next three weeks.

Carlos Pena:

This one, if it can be done, is absolute. He didn’t travel to Tenerife, he’s not wanted at Ibrox as far as we can tell, and Turkish clubs are said to be looking at him. Sooner Gerrard can get upwards of a million back for this flop signing the better.

Eduardo Herrera:

Did you forget him? Still our player, the other Mexican failure alongside Pena is out at loan with Santa Laguna, but if Rangers can get him off the wage bill with a few quid in the coffers as well for him, it’ll be gratefully received.

Wes Foderingham:

A few Championship sides are sniffing around him and he’s completely surplus at Ibrox now. He’s used as the sub goalie but in his defence he does deserve a bit better. He just isn’t good enough for Rangers and bids are expected for him.

Ross McCrorie:

Hopefully it won’t happen but again, Championship sides especially Swansea are looking at him. This is one the fans want to keep but if enough £££’s are waved at the board, we can’t see the player staying.

Alfredo Morelos:

Every window this same rigmarole, so here we go again. By signing Jermain Defoe and recalling Ryan Hardie it does suggest Gerrard is trying to protect the striker slot, aware Morelos is vulnerable. It could bring in serious cash though. As yet, we’re not aware of bids but they’re pretty inevitable.

Jordan Rossiter:

We wrote him off a few months ago, and then he resurfaced in the first team to make us look silly (not hard), but he’s kind of returned into the shadows and we can’t see him wanting to play in Rangers’ development squad for half a year. Just doesn’t seem to be able to clinch favour and we wouldn’t be shocked if he does move on in this window, even if on loan.

Lee Wallace:

The reported interest from Bristol City has gone quiet, but he remains a player Gerrard just isn’t interested in. If a bid is received or any kind of serious interest appears for the ex-captain, he will almost certainly move on.

If we’ve forgotten any, feel free to add them in the comments.

  1. We do really need to start getting players off the wage bill. No one seems to want the players we no longer need. Frustrating

  2. Would be comfortable to let any of these guys go except Alfie and Ross who we need, to go on and win the league . Could be that we look to get some of the loanees away permanently , Alnwick for instance.

  3. Rumour that Aberdeen are interested in Lee Wallace also Dundee . Not sure if either could manage his wage. Hope Fotheringham goes he done a half decent job for us but is no where near Shagger . If we can get any return at all for either of the Mexicans it would be amazing .

  4. Don't mind any of them going except for Ross McCrorie as he is an excellent player at only 20 years old and a future Rangers Captain. Rate him as our best holding midfielder considering his age and potential for improvement. At present must be worth £6 million going by what clubs are paying for down south. Would not sell going to be worth 10 million plus in the next few years.

  5. Dodoo, Holt, Alnick and Coulibaly. The guys on loan are not at the level required and Coulibaly could be returned to Angers and we wouldnt miss him.
We do need to start trimming the squad, last thing we need is a bloated bench of overpaid under achievers.

  6. Foderingham

    • Noo Way BlueBear!
      …Id keep McCrorie
Give him a lifetime contract if I had to.

The lad is a future Rangers Captain! And a Future Anchorman for Scotland.
