70% of Rangers fans have made a resounding choice over the striker problem

Following the signing of Jermain Defoe, there has been much talk of what system Rangers manager Steven Gerrard would deploy going forward.

Much of the chat has been about how you don’t sign Defoe to leave him on the bench, and that means he either partners Alfredo Morelos or starts up top alone.

But Ibrox Noise put that one to the polls and was not terribly surprised to see that in a choice of all four strikers on Rangers’ books (including recently-returned to Livi Ryan Hardie), it remains a landslide in favour of the Colombian that Rangers supporters prefer to see leading the line.

70% of all respondents still want to see the former HJK striker as Rangers’ first choice forward, with a modest 24% preferring to see Jermain Defoe adopt the lone 9 slot.

Kyle Lafferty and Ryan Hardie’s respective popularities in this context was so minute it barely registered.

So, it does seem that despite bringing in a 50plus cap England international, it’s the existing star attraction that Rangers fans still want up front as priority.

  1. Yes, but I can't see Alfredo still being with us, next season. Especially, if he continues on the good form, he has been.
