The utter horror stat that will have Rangers fans reeling….

Following the wreckage of today’s appalling performance and result, we have to make focus on one of the worst stats we’ve ever had the misfortune of witnessing.

As we know Rangers were chronic, and produced a truly dire show, but it was the stat on 65 minutes which gave some indication of how Steven Gerrard’s side fared.

85% possession in the second half, 0 shots, not even any off target.

Meanwhile 15% possession for the home side, 1 shot.

This horror stat summed up how absolutely apoplectic Rangers were today, and as the ball repeatedly passed its way around ineffectively in midfield, there was zero creativity till Eros Grezda’s wild attempt mercifully brought that stat to an end on 69 minutes.

This was Rangers’ worst of the season, no getting away from it.

We can look at the offside goal that wasn’t, but few fans are really using that as an excuse because Rangers FC should have enough to overcome bottom of the table Dundee.

A bad, bad day for everyone.

  1. Totally agree no cutting edgedge whatsoeverror all the huffing and puffing in midfield pages sideways and backwards terrible and why did we frequently have six players in our own half especially against ten men who were mostly sitting deep. And why are so many of our players running back towards our own goal to pick up the ball then pass it back or sideways what a shambles

    • too much passing when thy should have a shot at goal all thy did was cross into the box right into goal keeper's hand's

  2. worrying thing players looked as if they didnt gve a toss ,weve got the wrong man again ,too much chopping changing

    • So who would you have in a job. We're 2nd in league a in group stages of Europe all within 6 months of a young inexperienced coach takin the job. Who out there within our price could do a better job

    • well robert im not happy being second ,again do you not think its our turn to collect some silverware the eastenders have never dropped so many points this early ,murty would do for me .at least he destroyed the sheep home and away and he didnt get 15 million to bring in new players ,the players gerrard has brought with him wont do it for us there all shite apart from one old ranger ,shagger ,i dont even think he had a say bringing shagger home, r,t,i,d

  3. I've no doubt even Caixinha had stats that were twice as good. Forget Vienna. Dundee was a journey too far. Total waste of petrol. Stevie better bring out the axe. He has deadwood to chop and lots of it.

  4. I don't understand continual chopping & changing especially the centre backs that's only 4 clean sheets this season so far in league. Worrall I'm sorry isn't good enough. We desperately need some1 in middle of pitch who can see a forward pass & a another striker. As for gerrard I still believe & have no doubts he more importantly does.

  5. Can't believe we are taking this as bad as we are. Our manager is serv ing his apprenticeship with us think on that for a moment. This could be things now starting to fall apart for our famous club. And this is the chisler that's Dave King to those that don't know last throw of the dice with Gerrard. Watch for a few squirrels this week from King or even some absurd transfer quote on an EPL player and that will keep some of our loyal loyal loyal fans happy and keep them off our managers back and breathing space for our chairman.

    • It's on my opinion as I have stated before. But I have seen your take on things before your answer is to spend spend spend. So where is the cash coming from to keep up with the tramps from the East End. Your one of the loyal loyal loyal fans I speak about King just loves people or fans like you. Still waiting on an answer from you from about a month ago when I asked you about those shares but you still can't remember how much you paid for them. Get the paperwork out it will tell you on it remember people got them for a 1p a share what was yours I'm guessing yours must have been 72p a pop I would say you got bumped there mate.

    • Scud, I have answered that question half a dozen times. It was about 70p or something like that, whatever the offer price was. I have never said the answer is spend spend spend. Money we don't have. I have made a number of suggestions in different posts, all costed.

But you have NEVER answered my questions
"What do you suggest Scud? What should we do? What's your answer?"

Why not Scud? You must be able to think. You can type. So give us something, anything to make us believe. Anything that is not just negative, moaning and complaining. Write something constructive. You have a reputation to change

    • Well if we have not got the money to buy the players we want to stop 10 in a row we flood the team with loaned players as many as we can get and pay top dollar to get them. Job done 10 stopped and that shuts the tramps up in the East End and gives us time to regroup then . Now as for those shares at 70p you never mentioned that before when I asked you . You said you could not remember oh dear now you admit it was 70p looks liked you where bumped there mate when Ally &co got theirs for 1p a share leeching.

    • Scud, I mentioned on several occassions that I paid whatever the rate was at the flotation, I just couldn't remember the exact number. I spent my budget, £1000, so the price per share didn't matter. I believe I ahve also quoted circa 70-75p, as a guess, on more than one occassion.

But you have NEVER answered my questions
"What do you suggest Scud? What should we do? What's your answer?"

Sorry, but "flood the team with loans" is not an answer. What loans? Who from? Which positions do you want to change? The whole point of a forum like this is to exchange opinions, agree or disagree (politely, we are all Rangers fans after all) and certainly in my case to hopefully learn something from people who may know more about football and Rangers than I do.

Your comment above is a start, and for that well done. But it is not yet enough. Have a think and let us know who.

Incidentally, to all, I thought yesterday when I saw the team sheet that it was the best we could put out excepting Worral and I would have had barisic at LB with Halliday in Arfield's jersey. Shows what I know, or maybe those two changes would have been enough. I don't know why the second half was so flat, but we really need to find an answer before transfer window opens as there are too many point to lose between now and then. And a European knockout tie.

    • Scud, the reason we are able to bring players on loan is because they are not getting a game at their parent club. Now it may be possible to pick up some absolute gems from that process but the idea that we could pull pretty much a whole team of loanees to win a league title is fanciful. I'm afraid you'll just have to be patient and hope that we continue to improve each season, some years slower than previous years. 10IAR doesn't come into it. That short term thinking looking for a quick fix is what brought us Pedro.

  6. what utter crap against a team who are rotten the manager has no idea regards tactics its the same formation week in week out the other managers can see that our formation never changes Aberdeen two games against us two victories two attempts on goal when was the last time we played the same team two games in a row sell Morelos and Tavernier in January and also get shot of the loan players except Kent and bring a better quality of player in and some one to advise the manager ie Walter Smith

  7. Were they all out at the christmas party lastnight and still pissed, cos iam pissed watching them,
This just wasnt an off day it was the same crap on wednesday night too
    January cant come quick enough

    Lets go! WHERE TO?

  8. For me, it's either total cowardice, or the players are just not up to the job. Either way, we can't go on like this. A total clear out and re-stock, come January. This side are a disappointment to the club and supporters. They can talk the talk, but can't, walk the walk.

  9. The MF is our biggest problem area…our MF players regardless of which 3 start game to game are not offering enough! Pure & simple! What's big McCrorie got to do to get a game??

    • Become a good midfielder. He was given job against St. Mirren and got sent off for a stupid tackle. It didn’t cost us but we had to play for 70 mins with 10 men. Arfield is our best player in midfield. Doran’s has been injured , as has been Rossiter. And we have not really seen the Croat and Albanian yet. I can understand squad rotation when we are constantly playing 2 games per week. But with our resources this season we are not yet in bad place. Gerrard must be given chance. McInnes not really up to job. Just plays like rest of Scottish clubs. Strategy is simple. Pack defence and kick fuck out of Rangers and Celtic. Jesus Celtic couldn’t beat Motherwell on Saturday despite being a goal up and given a soft penalty. Much to play for this season yet. Loanees only short term solution. Next summer is when we should get properly organised.

  10. bring back Wallace and when thy get to the d thy should shoot for goal instead of trying to make a pass. all thy do is cross into the box that did not work the balls were to close to the keeper

  11. Goram, Gough, Brown, Ferguson x 2, McCall, Hateley, Durrant, McCoist, Cooper x2, Gazza, Laudrup, Wilkins, Francis, Stevens, Cohen, Phillips, Walker, Walters, Butcher, Drinkell, McGregor,Roberts,Gray.Nothing much more to add really.

  12. Ryan Jack had a shot on target and Grezda had one off target. The stats are off, but embarrassing.result even if we had 40 shots.

    • Hi, yes, we've pointed this out. From minute 45-69 we had no shots. After that Grezda and Jack both had one each. That's kind of the point of the article.
