Is Steven Gerrard close to signing a new captain in January?

The pressure currently on James Tavernier as current captain has risen dramatically following his inept leadership and no-show after Dundee.

As such, Rangers surely have to consider appointing a new captain, but in a twist, could the new man be a January signing?

Steven Davis has been strongly linked with a return to Ibrox, and as former captain himself, knows exactly what is needed and with a tonne of experience both north and south of the border and a current international with Northern Ireland, the former Fulham man could be the perfect fit for the role.

Rangers certainly need quality in January, and some proper leadership. Scott Arfield is doing as good a job as he can to rally the troops, but he could certainly use some help and Arfield alongside Davis really would be a pretty decent midfield to say the least.

Would you want Davis as captain?

  1. I I'm not sure about being captain , he'd have to earn that . But bringing him back , yes of coarse as I'm sure he'd do a job that our midfield needs

  2. Not for me … He will be 34 next month and good as he was when with us, NOT NOW when can't get a game for arguably worst team in English premier.

  3. I would much prefer we sign someone more dynamic, energetic and creative. Davies has been a good player, but he has become more injury prone and that is the last thing we need. I would also say that there is zero chance (in my opinion) that the captaincy will be taken away from Tav, unless of course he is sold.

  4. No, I wouldnt Take Him Back
    He's Had His Time …#ForwardNotBack
…Would not agree with this Transfer

Id Rather Docherty got Games 👍

  5. he's 34 and on the way out. Would not be any improvement on what we have – priority has to be someone up top – we are toothless without Morelos
