Gerrard planning double international January signing swoop; rumours

Following Rangers’ recent poor form, speculation has increased that Steven Gerrard is set to try to ramp up his January efforts in securing Northern Ireland pair Steven Davis and Jordan Jones.

Davis, recently given the Southampton captaincy back, has not been hugely in favour this season at St Mary’s, and will be out of contract next summer – the links between him and a return to Ibrox have persisted for well over a season now and he’s said to be interesting Steven Gerrard as a possible free.

Meanwhile Jordan Jones continues to simmer in the background – with Ryan Kent struggling on his return to competitive action as well as being a loan player, Daniel Candeias’ own form fluctuating and Glenn Middleton remaining raw, only Eros Grezda appears the only convincing winger Rangers actually have and he too remains a bit of an enigma at this point.

Hence Gerrard is said to be monitoring Jones as a possible January signing whether on permanent deal or pre-contract.

Meanwhile Rangers have also been linked to today with an interest in Gillingham’s Tom Eaves – the League One striker tops the division in scoring rate, and the 26 year old striker faces suitors in the form of Preston and Blackburn as well.

With Rangers’ current performances not inspiring a lot of optimism, some fresh blood in January will certainly be appreciated.

  1. I think Goldson should be played in his proper place. At right center back. He played on the left on Sunday and was not completely comfortable

  2. Aw mate not this again that's us going back the way not forward again another freebie as well. Don't know much about Jones though that could be interesting. But I do hope there is no more ITT speculation about big names coming to us like previously only for true blues to be let down again. Let's wait for our manager to mention some names then I will take it more seriously WATP .

    • I agree with Scud. Jesus, things must be bad 🙂
Davis is past it. Jones is not as good as Kent or Middleton. Even if Kent leaves, Jones is not the answer, he has no output. Check his stats and compare to Middleton's

  3. We have a busload of players blatantly unable to do the business. Simply can't take on any more before a much needed cull. Make it happen Stevie.

  4. Davis – No…Wud Rather Doche Played

    Jones – No He's Pish!

    Eaves – Who? 😂 …Seriously? 😂

  5. No thanks with Jones, Eaves is no better than Hardie, get the young Docherty back. Davis is the only half decent signing in my thinking. Might be 33 but knows how to pass a ball. Stick him in as the pivot and have Arfield forward. Pena deserve another chance?
