Stevie drops colossal January transfer hint - fans will love it

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has left us here at Ibrox Noise and the wider support in a little bit of confusion after mixed signals regarding player indispensability.

He confirmed recently that all players are for sale, which is something he’s said before, and clarified that they’re not for sale for the ‘old prices’ but the ‘new ones’.

Which is fine.

However, he muddied the waters a bit today by confusing this again, when he admitted star striker Alfredo Morelos is more or less not for sale and he’ll not only fight tooth and nail to keep the Colombian, but he’s willing to fall out with the board with regards to it too.

He revealed some weeks ago that if a suitor team offers enough for any player, they’re available, but that doesn’t seem to apply to Morelos who, it seems, now has a market value for around at least £20M.

We know West Brom will be sniffing around at James Tavernier again before too long, and being club captain and signing yet another new deal his value will be in the £10M+ range, but with regards Morelos Gerrard has changed his tune and gone more hard line implying that he will resist even double that for his top goalscorer.

Quite honestly we don’t mind this at all. It’s about time Rangers hurt teams’ wallets rather than wimpily giving our best players away for circa £1.5M. And this tactic of Gerrard ensures teams wanting Morelos will not only have to open their wallets, but search deep inside to give Rangers the kind of money a Colombian international is surely worth.

His cameo yesterday lit up Ibrox, and showed his value – it wasn’t against a Hamilton or a Dundee, it was against the season’s surprise package that is the robust Livi – and the ex-HJK man destroyed them.

And if Stevie’s latest comments are to be believed, despite saying all players are for sale, that’s not strictly true in Alfredo’s case. Which can only hike his value even further.

We’d have to say well played on that one.

  1. Ibrox noise there you go again getting conned into the Morelos hype story and 20 million quid price tag. You yourself started these crazy rumours this time last year quoting 12 to 15 million even rising to 20 million quid when he is in the Columbian world cup squad none of that worked out. Now you have us true blues fans fed this non-sense once again in the run up to January transfer window did. I have no time for King the Chisler as I have posted before but this sounds like and looks like some fake news from yourself maybe even cheeerleading for the Chisler himself. All this before and the lead up to AGM surprise surprise watch for the deflections as the week goes on and we and our famous club get dragged through the courts again with this all down to our honest chairman.

    1. W.T.F. "I HAVE NO TIME FOR KING THE CHISLER" Well thank fuck you have nothing to do with how we are run. The man (King)has done more for Ranger than ANYONE in our history. Without him there would be no Rangers.

  2. I used to give Alfie stick for his attitude. But, I see now, the boy was just not getting any service, was a little immature, last season. But to be fair, he has now started enjoying his football, here. He' even learned to keep his mouth shout more, with refs. We should hold on to him, for another season at least. Then I think, the big guns of England, are going to come on strong.

I agree with you that Morelos is worth very big bucks. But no matter the bid, he can't be allowed to go until we have one or better two replacements. IF, a big IF, we got Shankland or Solenke that would be one, we would need both.
And I wouldn't get too worried about Spud. What would scare me would be if he had something positive to say about Rangers and King. Mind you, it would just mean someone had hacked his account:-)

    3. Shankland? Are you having a joke? No-one has even remotely suggested he's a Rangers target. And with good reason - he is not Rangers class: even as a third or fourth choice striker. Did you see him against us? Obviously not. He'll eventually get a move to a St Mirren, St Johnstone or Dundee. But Rangers? Never in a lifetime!

  4. Scud I'm the first to give IN grief over the nonsense sometimes spouted but this time they have got it right. Morelos is getting better and better and there will be a mile long queue of eager, rich English clubs looking to snap him up. Sure they'll test the waters with lowball bids of £5m before realising they need to think £15m plus. If a bidding war was to start £20m is not unthinkable.
