“Won’t see 10IAR” – SPL ‘fans’ disgrace Scottish football…

During a spell of undeniable ignominy for Scottish football, once again online trolls have disgraced the sport north of the border and brought shame on themselves and angered all decent-minded people.

Thanks to an alert from long-term Ibrox Noise regular Billy McKie, comments on the SPFL’s YouTube channel under highlights of the Rangers Hearts match at Ibrox a week ago, we can see some absolutely horrific views percolating within the vile underbelly of Scottish football, as a troll decided to make light of Hillsborough, the Ibrox Disaster and Fernando Ricksen’s struggles.

It saddens us to see opinions like this circulating – even if purely to get a reaction, the desire to even express such vile comments is a continuing stain on the cesspit that Scottish football can be far, far, far too often.

We don’t even want to repeat the words this individual stated so we won’t, and will let our readers make up their minds on what they think, and we again thank Billy for giving us an alert to the very real nature of this kind of opinion.

  1. Absolutely Disgusting!
I mean Yeah Ok, Ricksen was No Angel on or off the pitch but even so…

Why would u say such things?
Why wud u wish for someone to suffer from such a horrible condition?

Wish it wasnt happening to Fernando at all to be Honest

  2. Even the decent supporters of Celtic would be disgusted with their comments, it hasn't been the first and certainly wont be the last, ive even seen some disgusting comments from our so called own fans when streaming a game on youtube, those dregs of society are not fans, just absolute lowest of the low

  3. Ricksen, Gazza, Brown, Lennon etc have all had moments of madness and on field drama. But this is nothing short of a disgrace. We all love a bit of banter and a laugh but this is beyond comprehension. Remember how the rangers fans and squad where when the late Tommy Burns passed ? Unity provailed for the sake of RESPECT, these ppl should be traced and named shamed and jailed, what an example this sets for our future generations following they’re beloved clubs. I would say this is a minority situation though but this person amongst others who deem this appropriate must be punished for such evilness. I’m a Rangers fan , and it goes for us all, banter and rivalries are always gonna be there but please don’t resort to this , both clubs are are of an international scale and we don’t need this kind of news brought upon us.

    • Jailed? Are you insane? That's even more ridiculous than the comments in question. Jailed for what? For offending your sensibilities? You seriously think that should be a jailable offense, huh?

Insinuating someone should be jailed for saying something that you deem morally reprehensible is more disgusting than anything being discussed above. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    • Mark, while we accept Paul’s idea maybe goes a little far, your response is sadly typical of the overly offended internet generation that gets appalled at ideas they disagree with and morally admonishes the perpetrators. Which is more than a bit conceited. We were once told to ‘hang our heads in shame’ so, here at Ibrox Noise, we did exactly that collectively. We physically hung our heads in shame. We hope that satisfied the accuser. We doubt that Paul is going to take your demand to heart…

    • You've missed the point entirely. I'm not easily offended, and reading the story above, and the comments, you are all the ones who seem to be morally outraged. I take no issue with your stance at IN. None. And I would've taken no issue Paul's either. Until he started advocating jail time for someone using their right to free expression (well, what used to be their right to free expression anyway).

And to be fair, Paul can take it to heart, or not. That's not my goal. Im simply using my right to free expression to take a stance against an idea that, quite frankly, has far reaching ramifications greater than merely being offended.

And lastly, I never morally admonished him. I merely said he was wrong about a specific point he made. And he is wrong. Full stop. Jailing people over words you deem to be wrong is a horrendous view. It cuts at the very bedrock of what free society entails. This means you have to accept all speech. The good. The bad. The indifferent.

To say I'm supplanting my morality in place of other's and saying it must be obeyed, is to miss the entire point I was making.

    • Mark, you can justify your position all you want. We take no issue with your view. We just suggested that instructing another to feel shame because you dislike their stance is a major fallacy of online interaction.

    • That's hilarious insight considering your opening paragraph to the story… That's all I'll say. It's obvious you've missed the point.

And for the record, anyone that believes in jailing someone over the words they speak (unless they are explicit calls to do real harm and violence), is a shameful position to hold. The reasons for which should be abundantly obvious. It's so much larger an issue than merely an individual one.

Guess I'm the only free speech advocate here today. I defend your right to speak, Paul's right to speak, and yes, even the troll's right to speak. Combating that speech with our own individual interpretations and arguments is how this dance works. And it's all fine, except where it starts concerning jail time. Jailing people for wrong-speak is what they did in the USSR… Not in Britain (well, it used to not happen in Britain anyway).

This is how I think. This is the stance I hold. I don't seek validation, but just know the road to oppression will be fully completed when people start going to jail for their words. Is that the society people want to live in? Because I sure as hell don't.

    • If you're comparing your desire for Paul to feel shame over a slightly OTT response to trolling with our suggestion that said trolling laughing at the Ibrox Disaster is shameful, we clearly share different opinions on what the word means.

We respect your opinion, and we have no more to say on the topic.

  4. You’re right BlueBear on both fronts. Still doesn’t make it acceptable but though mate! We’ve all got friends who support Celtic or Aberdeen who would go Tonto over stuff like this. I’m not whiter than white I’ve done and said some shit in the past never like this..

Suppose we shouldn’t judge by our own standards. It’s been a horrendous wk or so for anything Rangers – laughing at 66 96 – Ricksen – Gazza being humiliated – SD again over tops!

I for one can’t wait for the Team and Support to humiliate others at Ibrox as a reaction..

    Onwards & Upwards

  5. These individuals aren't worth discussing they are total cowards I wouldn't wish what Fernando is going through on my worst enemy . All these trolls are bullies who don't have the guts to show themselves they would hide behind a screen someone knows these bullies and for all these bullies I hope you never suffer the illness that Fernando does . Just get a life .

    • I agree with you 100% and I refer to my earlier point, trolling and online bullying ARE actually crimes now punishable by law. These ppl who hide behind they’re keyboards think they’re unanswerable to they’re actions and they’re very wrong. You can only imaging the hype if this where Rangers fans, it would be world war rangers , and we’d be every name under the sun.

  6. Jailed strong yes , but certainly at the minimum being spoken to and reprimanded by police. Those comments aren’t a freedom of speach , they are an abusive and vile assassination to an ill individual suffering from a terminal condition. Many have children growing up and to see such things can only rub off on the younger generation witch is terrible. I will also point out that several people have actually been charged and convicted previously for less than what we’ve saw above. I take none of what you said to heart but do certainly feel that something must be done to these mindless idiots otherwise it’s seen as acceptable to some and it’s quite clearly not. I’ve also many football fans as friends from both sides of the old firm and they like me deem this morally reprehensible. There is simply no place for it at all.

  7. There is an old saying that we should all remember, "Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you"I am a true Rangers supporter and feel for Paul and Fernando, I also believe that God will look after them, what these trolls forget is that We are a big club, biggest in Scotland and always will be, they look for a reaction and are getting it from you all, forget the trolls, if you ignore them then they go away and don't get off on anything, they are nobodies , little people with little brains or no brains, we are bigger and better, we are the Rangers family, stick together and give them nothing, we look after our own and always will, trolls are poison, trolls are sick, that's why they remain on the dark side.

  8. Thank fuck i grew up in a generation where we didn't have all these disgusting comments all over this fucking internet shite, thank fuck i won't be around much longer as it's getting worse,No Surrender and Fuck the sfa !!!

  9. I hear you and agree to a degree. Fans in stadiums are removed and banned , charged etc for sectarianism etc etc amongst other chants. Just because these people hide behind a screen when they do it as opposed to being within a stadia shouldn’t mean the people aren’t dealt with for similar or same comments / chants. Maybe it got more of a rise from me than it should have but is sickens me to hear it. Just seems incomprehensible that some ppl feel that what’s been said constitutes freedom of speech. We all have a right of speech granted , but we don’t have the right to this in any way shape of form. We are rangers and we will look after our own , for everyone else knows that no one else does. So much anti Rangers it’s incredible, the “obsession claims” and when they don’t work resort to filth and evil comments is very real. WATP
