Two back, but five out for Hamilton? Latest major Rangers squad news…

Rangers have been hit by a possible number of injury blows ahead of Sunday’s trip to Hamilton’s artificial pitch to face Martin Canning’s side while possible receiving a boost or two as well.

Midfielder Scott Arfield was left out of Canada’s recent qualifiers after picking up a pulled hamstring while away with the Canucks, and is a major question mark for Sunday having missed yesterday’s training session at the Hummel. He is a significant risk and may well be absent.

Meanwhile Nikola Katic was at training but there is still a huge question mark over him following his withdrawal from the Croatia U21 setup for their internationals over the break, and Steven Gerrard may well continue with Joe Worrall in defence.

Gareth McAuley was back training and may be starting finally to gather some momentum which is good news in light of Katic’s possible fitness concerns, but there was a notable lack of Ryan Jack at Auchenhowie and we sincerely hope it’s not his recent injury issues flaring up again.

Furthermore, Borna Barisic was also nowhere to be seen following his injury which ruled him out of Croatia’s recent matches, and we do wonder exactly what his status currently is.

And we know about the Kyle Lafferty situation so he is 99% certain to be AWOL too.

Otherwise, in better news, Jordan Rossiter appears closer and closer to full fitness and may be in serious contention for a place on the bench at least this weekend.

  1. Rossiter has to be careful. One more injury and that will be him, consigned to the dustbin. Written off permanently, as injury prone.
