Steven Gerrard hands Rangers fans a potentially big boost

Steven Gerrard has confirmed that star defender Nikola Katic is fully fit again and ready for tomorrow’s vital trip to New Douglas Park, but is unlikely to use him on such a surface.

Katic has been the topic of contention recently due to his inaction for club, and pulled out his country’s international break on injury grounds, but famously decried artificial surfaces as bad for his 6.4 frame and the cause of significant back pain.

But his manager has confirmed at least that he is definitely fit and healthy and ready for selection, albeit given Joe Worrall’s recent run in the side, we can’t see a switch at the back, especially for someone who is known to protest the surface.

He said:

“Katic is fine, 100% ready to go.”

But we can’t see him featuring if his previous complaints about the surface are anything to go by.

And given Gerrard’s current preference for Joe Worrall anyway, it seems a moot point – but at least we’ll have quality on the bench regardless
