Rangers to make big January move for rival SPL star; reports

Rangers have been curiously linked with a move for Dundee’s central anchor Glen Kamara, in speculation which may cast doubt over the future of Jordan Rossiter at Ibrox.

The Finnish international has been in and out of Neil McCann’s side this season through injury, and Rangers’ interest in him comes as something of a surprise given Steven Gerrard’s abundance of options in central and defensive midfield such as aforementioned Rossiter, Ryan Jack, Ross McCrorie, Lassana Coulibaly and Andy Halliday, to name just five.

However, the 22-year old is highly regarded and is seen by his current manager as arguably his best player, and Rangers are not the only side linked with an interest in his services, with Celtic and Sunderland among the others.

It is a signing we’d be a little puzzled at pursuing. If there is one place in the squad teeming with talent it’s central midfield, and while this lad does have potential and has represented his country several times, we do feel it would be a little unnecessary!

That said, it does cast a shadow over the notion of Rossiter’s return to the first team – if he is removed from the equation, and adding Ryan Jack’s on-off injury concerns, there’s only Coulibaly and McCrorie. So perhaps the pursuit isn’t quite as odd as it seems.

Regardless, if Steven Gerrard wants the player, the board will need to fork out a very healthy six-figure sum at bare minimum.

  1. The only signing for me in that area is steven davis.A move back home would re-ignite the fire in him as i get the impression he's not enjoying his football at southamton and needs a fresh challenge. what a better challenge than stopping them and playing in europe every season. can saints offer that.

    • I hate to disagree with a fellow Bluenose but I wouldnt take Davis back up the road
      …just My Opinion 👍

  2. Unless we are planning on Finally getting Rid of Rossiter
    …We Dont Fcking Need Him!

Literally we have so Many Defensive/Central Mids

Halliday, Jack, Coulibaly, McCrorie, Docherty, Arfield, Barjonas and Rossiter

Let Him go to Sunderland or let them lot from the East have Him.

  3. Agree with scooby, Davis would be all we needed and wanted in that area, and the last thing we need is another injury prone player in the ranks. We’re big in terms of midfield numbers, I’d be looking for another striking option, the upcoming semi final makes it very clear that we need at least another 1 possibility up front. On another note , there was talk of potentially getting Couillibally signed on a permanent deal, I feel that come end of season his price would rise given his performances for us thus far and if we could get it done in January we could get him for a good price. Be a lot of loanees come end of season returning to parent clubs so having one of our stand out performers tied down would be a great bit of business.

    • cheers paul, a short term deal for solanke is my preferred option, as he gets game time we get goals win/win for all concerned. he and moelos could be a real partnership till end of season at least, or the big no.9 of osijek whose name i've forgot? ps. still think SG could play katic goldson worral as a 3 with 2 fullbacks just in front in certain games, almost a 3-5-2 ?

    • Solanke was fairly prolific at youth level 4 or 5 years but his recent scoring stats just don't add up. Maybe worth a look on loan but I think there must be better options out there. And there's probably a reason why you don't remember the name of the Osijek number 9. They hardly laid a glove on us in 2 games while we were still finding our feet and it took our own Borna Barisic to score their only goal against us.

    • Think maybe he meant Tavares the Maribor striker. He was a unit, with a fair bit of quality, denied by our amazing goalie. Would be a decent shout.
