Rangers rocked with yet another injury blow; confirmed

Rangers have been rocked with yet another injury after confirmation defender Nikola Katic has had to pull out of the U21 national squad.

The 21-year old defender appeared to have lost his place to England’s Joe Worrall in recent weeks, but this development suggests the former Slaven Balupo man may have been struggling with some kind of knock.

The Croatian Federation’s own Twitter account revealed this news recently, and hoped for a speedy recovery, but we’re more than a touch confused as to where this came from and indeed the nature of it.

Katic had been in brilliant form, if occasionally accident-prone, but for a young developing defender this was perfectly normal, and his physicality was a big miss on Sunday with Joe Worrall unable to convincingly deal with the powerhouse that is Ikpeazu.

Steven Gerrard will hope this upcoming break of two weeks gives him (and Borna Barisic for that matter) enough time to regain their fitness and become contenders for selection again.

  1. Plagued, that's what we are. Out of curiosity, i'd like to compare our injury list, to Celtic. How come they're not suffering with multiple outs, due to injury? What's that all about?? From what I've seen, they are not as impacted to the degree we are, by injuries.

  2. Hope So Because I dont Rate Worrall or Flanagan at ALL

...Id Rather see Lee Wallace get another Chance at LB in front of Flanagan.

    1. Ridiculous comment. Flanagan is a far better player than the injury ravaged, aging Wallace. He’s had his day. We are grateful for it. We acknowledge it but he’s not ever going t9 be a first choice left back in from of what we have nowadays

    2. Really. Flanagan has been brilliant in the last couple of games.

  3. Not wanting to play international duty so get fit for after the break. I'd prefer players to be fit for Rangers than Croatia, no matter how rocked we are by said minor knocks.

  4. Rather see Wallace than Flanagan thats a bit much. As much as I have loved Wallace he is not fit enough right now and Flanagan has been superb and is much more defensively sound than Wallace

  5. Flanagan was a candidate for MOTM against Hearts. Lafferty has pulled out of international duty too. Pattern forming here. I don't believe for a second that Katic and Barasic are seriously injured, just not wanting to risk international duty when recovering from knocks. Worrall is looking good and is safer with the ball than Katic at his current stage of development. See Niko's square ball to Watt vs St Johnstone as an example of an issue he will be working on. Like him a lot and he does some things better than Worrall, but Worrall does some things better than Katic. Both have some improving to do, certainly not saying I hate either of them. I really don't understand the hyperbolic insulting of players (eg. Ejaria, Worrall etc) that are not guilty of anything horrific at all. We are looking good, I trust our manager and our current squad, despite some minor short-comings that I believe are being addressed.

  7. Flanagan will be an important player throughout the season, he’s solid and dependable in defence something neither tav or borna can say. Wallace is a loyal guy I would keep him as backup in case both fullbacks are injured
