Massive injury blow for star summer signing?

Rangers could have a serious problem on their hands as Croatian media have reported star left back Borna Barisic has sustained an apparent muscle rupture and such injuries can be season-enders.

The fullback was mysteriously absent yesterday from Steven Gerrard’s match-day squad, and we have no details yet on the accuracy of this report, but national team manager Zlatko Dalic has been quoted as saying the ‘situation is not good’ amidst the Rangers defender’s call up for the upcoming international break.

It’s a bit of a blow to say the least for Steven Gerrard, given Barisic was a marquee summer signing and the clear first choice in his position, as well has producing an excellent display for his country recently against Portugal, but this injury could seriously affect thinking and leave Jon Flanagan the clear first (only?) choice for left back for the foreseeable future.

Coupled onto the unknown status of Albanian winger Eros Grezda and currently it’s looking like a wasted £4M, even if it’s no one’s fault.

We hope for a speedy recovery for both, but a ‘muscle rupture’ doesn’t sound promising.

Hopefully it’s just a minor affliction which is only short term.

  1. 1. They Should give Wallace another go at LB!
...A Better Sturdier Option than JonFlan

But Hope Barisic makes a Speedy Recovery 😏

    2. Wish We Knew what the Hell was going on with Grezda

    3. He cost £1.85-£2.5m not £4m

    1. 1) Agree they should give him another go, although not sure he is still better than Flanagan. But also hope he comes back soon
      2) Agree, its a strange one
3)The £4m is estimate for the two players combined, I suspect

    2. 1. Hes a Better option for Back-Up left back than an Out of Position Flanagan

      2. Yeah Mate,
Ifs Hes Injured, Tell us hes Injured
If not then either Give Him a Shot or put Him Out on Loan in January

      3. Yeah that seems more likely 😂

  2. Was at the Rapid game and I have every confidence in Flanagan to fill in till he's back. Imagine he will use Halliday sparingly at left back as back up as Lee Wallace is injured again in his groin. His time is likely up. But injuries are part and parcel of the game. At least we have 2 decent left backs to help in this situation.

Grezda was injured before he came to Rangers so give him some slack. Gerrard is big on having his players match ready. When he's fit - he will play.

  3. It’s a strange one tbh. I mean it was only 24hrs after the Gaffer said there was no new injury concerns to the Squad. That said the big man and Katic will comeback stronger along with Grezda.
Worral best enjoy his place in the Team while it lasts as Katic will make that position his...
