Just 100 tickets sold – Hampden semi farce rumbles on….

After Stewart Milne’s embarrassing song and dance about ticket numbers, the Aberdeen chairman has been made to look like an absolute wally with the news that not only was his demand for an equal share for the semi-final v Rangers rejected, but the SPFL have cut the allocation from circa 20k to merely 15K after Dons fans failed to take up more than 9000 by the time of writing.

Worse still for the Pittodrie chief, Aberdeen supporters have bought literally 100 tickets today (Thursday), making a mockery of his outrage that Rangers fans would be prioritised.

It’s the natural order of things in Scotland – be it Rangers or Celtic, the Old Firm always pack Hampden out for major cup occasions, and even minor ones, and for the SPFL to reject Milne’s demands in the first place made complete financial sense.

Now he looks beyond absurd following his ‘fair playing field’ expectation, with well below half of the original numbers being taken up.

Rangers, of course, have been boosted by this – the previous 27k allocation will now have at least a further 5000 available for fans, and it stands to reason that the Dons will struggle to sell many more of their remaining 6000 and Rangers may well get even more supporters in Mount Florida in due course.

It really does add up to someone acting above their station with requests they had no entitlement to make.

The Old Firm, whether Scottish football likes it or not, are the top dogs. Maybe not always top of the league, but for name, credibility, marketing and hugely, financial purposes no one else in Scotland has any real case for elevated status.

And this is a prime example.

  1. I had to have a little chuckle today when I saw the news. Talk about biting off more than you can chew. Good old Scaberdeen. Bunch of fannies. They will build their new stadium then go bust when they can't fill it.

    • Their new stadium should be quite inexpensive with a 15000 capacity, with half of that being revenue generation from visiting fans.

  2. Stumbler, I am MEGA surprised that the sheep couldn't have sold a lot more tbh, especially as they are to take us on in a Semi-Final of The League Cup and we have no known striker to play against them.
They lot NOT selling All their tickets really does Seem Strange ?

  3. Haha *Laughing at The Sheeps Issues*

    Ya Fckin Knobhead Milne!
…Maybe Sit Doon and Keep your Gob Shut Next Time! 👊

Makes me Laugh tho when you hear of "Small" Clubs like Aberdeen wanting to Build a New/Bigger Stadium when they cant't fill the one they have got! 😂

I mean come on lets Face it for Clubs like Aberdeen/Killie etc the only time its even close to being full is When Rangers/Celtic come and Visit.

  4. I remember being with over 30,000 Rangers fans to watch us play against Queen's Park in the 3rd tier of Scottish football in 2012. Would have been more but Hampden was having some renovation done.

What an embarrassment for sheep 'fans' and their club.
