Injury blows for Rangers as Stevie Ger confirms two big absences

Steven Gerrard has today confirmed Borna Barisic and Scott Arfield will miss this weekend’s trip to New Douglas Park, as we brought to you here on Ibrox Noise yesterday.

The two internationals have picked up muscle issues and Sunday comes too soon for either of them, forcing Stevie to alter certain aspects of his plans going into the crucial away fixture, with intent very much on the horizon to turn the travelling record around.

Arfield picked up his issue when he was away on Canada duty, while Barisic appears to have got his in Scotland, ergo pulling out of the Croatia camp for Nations League duty, and it does leave their manager a bit short in both those positions for the weekend.

While defensive midfield is heavily stocked, attacking midfield and fullback aren’t overly well-endowed with players to cover these kind of absences, albeit Andy Halliday will almost certainly play a role in this match given his utility qualities of covering both positions.

Nevertheless, it’s not ideal to miss two of your star performers, and Stevie will this weekend.

  1. Agree Lee Wallace should be given game time in this fixture . Would like to see (once we go 3 up!!) Steven Gerrard try something up front with the Semi in mind

  2. Big Lee's still injured at the moment, and maybe young Rossiter will get some game time also Dorrans could fit in for Scotty….No Surrender….
