Gerrard reveals another devastating injury blow for Rangers

Steven Gerrard has today confirmed star defender Borna Barisic’s injury has not only been more severe than first realised but he’s suffered a setback as well and is expected to be unavailable for at least a fortnight, and if we’re pessimistic, longer.

The former Osijek man has shown real glimpses of his quality so far at Ibrox, but has been unable to sustain a run in the first team due to injury, and Gerrard has confirmed the prognosis, while not terrible, is far from ideal and the Croatian, if we are to conjecture with our luck, could be out till close to December.

Speaking in his pre-Killie presser he said:

“(Borna’s) still injured. Yes (setback). No long-term absence, couple of weeks tops.”

This is not great news, because Barisic hasn’t kicked a ball for Rangers in anger in one month during the dreadful loss at Livi, and was not able to take part in his country’s fixtures during the break either.

He remains out of contention, but while best case scenario would ironically have him ready for the visit of Livi later next month, it could be longer.

We hope not.
