Steven Gerrard suggests reports about forgotten man were wide of the mark…

After it was reported by Ibrox insiders that Graham Dorrans was to be out injured till next year, manager Steven Gerrard has given Rangers fans a potential boost by dropping a hint the creative midfielder will return within weeks.

Following Rangers’ disappointing loss at Parkhead yesterday, a little scratching of heads has taken place, and if one player really struggled in the atmosphere it was certainly Ovie Ejaria who, after all his recent improvement, was probably Rangers’ weakest performer on the day and was hugely culpable for the goal.

Rangers need more depth in that position – thankfully the signing of Eros Grezda adds some but another body there would be welcome and Dorrans still has plenty to deliver following a rather inconspicuous start to his Rangers career.

Gerrard said:

“Some players will go away on international duty, and we hope they come back healthy. It is a chance for us to get Coulibaly fit, Grezda fit and Dorrans fit – players that will help us become better and stronger.”

Dorrans had previously been reported as a long-term injury casualty, but his return to training inside potentially days rather than next year marks a potentially remarkable turnaround and his experience inside a midfield which is currently still developing and finding itself would be welcome.

Hopefully he finally hits the kind of form we expected when we signed him.

  1. It is beginning to look more and more that the terms of the loans for Kent and Ejaria include a must play clause I would have had both of them replaced at half time Kent is no better than Harry Forrester was and Ejaria has skill but not a lot of commitment not the guy to play in a game against the tims at home Concerned regards the fact it took Gerrard so long to see that changes had to be made

    • Disappointed with Ejaria who tracked Ncham back all the way to the edge of the box then stopped allowing him his tap in.
