Rangers handed massive boost for Dundee and Villarreal

Rangers have been handed a major boost for tomorrow’s hosting of Dundee with the presence of doubtful Kyle Lafferty at training today.

The Northern Ireland striker was taken off with a knee injury during the international break, but the knock he sustained v Bosnia appears to have only been minor and he was back in good form among the group in training as normal.

It marks a boost for manager Steven Gerrard, not only for tomorrow’s clash with Neil McCann’s men, but a huge one for the Europa League curtain raiser v Villarreal midweek given Alfredo Morelos’ suspension previously led to only out-of-sorts Umar Sadiq potentially being available.

With Lafferty it seems fit again, Rangers’ options up front have more reliable depth, and we know what we’ll get from the former Hearts man.

It’s certainly a relief, and we have posited that we’d select Kyle up front tomorrow, albeit manager Gerrard may elect to put in Morelos and save Lafferty and his fitness for the European action.

But time will tell on that one.

Either way it seems that Kyle Lafferty is fighting fit and raring to go again. And that’s very good news.

  1. got to guard against injury and give Lafferty another few days to rest. Time that Sadiq got a game, if he is hopeless then send him back to Roma (if thats possible) start Morelos on Saturday and give Middleton a start also. Still got Worrell and McAuley to come in might be a good idea to save either Goldson or Katic for the Euro game as it will be no doubt a backs to the wall in Spain.
