Monday reserve fixture: key absences may concern Rangers fans

Umar Sadiq has been left out of today’s reserve clash with Dundee United at St Andrews, a match which kicked off today at 13:45 and featured former captain Lee Wallace in the lineup.

There was also no place for returning Jordan Rossiter, who, like Wallace, was not included in the Europa League squad and won’t play any part this Thursday, which is perhaps not the best sign for his recuperation that Gerrard doesn’t feel he’s even ready to feature in a reserve match.

It is even worse for Sadiq, who whether or not involved this Thursday in Spain is painfully short on match time and this would have been a fine chance to get him some badly-needed match fitness in preparation. So his absence from the reserve squad in the north of Scotland for Graeme Murty’s side augurs rather poorly for his general chances at present.

The full team was as follows:

McAdams, Houston, Mayo, Finlayson, Wallace, Thomson, Palmer, Kelly, Dallas, Shiels, Mebude

  1. On his day and fully fit Wallace is as good LB as we have and he desrves another chance. Remember he stayed when he could have made more money by going to another club when r were relegated
