Gerrard drops big hint about attacker starting v Dundee

Steven Gerrard has confirmed new signing Eros Grezda won’t start today’s return to domestic action with Dundee, but is working on match fitness and resides at about 70% readiness and ‘may’ still feature v Neil McCann’s men.

The Albanian international’s regain of fitness follows an extensive spell of surgery earlier this year after an injury on duty with his country in May, and should he cameo today, it will mark his first competitive action in all that time.

Indeed, Gerrard equally confirmed Rangers fans may catch a glimpse of him as part of his rehabilitation with a potential substitute’s appearance. The manager said:

“He’s nearly there. He might be involved tomorrow, we’ll make that decision in the next couple of hours but first and foremost we’re delighted to have him. The fans will love him when he’s up to speed – he’s had surgery on the 6th of June so we’re still trying to progress that and move him forward and find his match fitness. He’s probably around 70, 80% where we stand right now but we haven’t got game time to give him in terms of pre-season games so we will try to press forward with his progression so he may be involved tomorrow. We’ll wait and see.”

So pretty much 100% certain Grezda won’t start but may be on the subs’ bench and may be in line for a late cameo.

We’d imagine this would be an appearance should the match be comfortably in Rangers’ favour, and should it be otherwise he might not be risked.

We look forward to this promising talent showing just why the hype about him is justified.
