Gerrard provides curious update on injury absentee…

Steven Gerrard has extended Jordan Rossiter’s injury spell by a fortnight, despite some outlets reporting it as good news.

The holding midfielder, a standout during pre-season, suffered a ankle injury just prior to the program’s first friendly at Auchenhowie v TNS, and has been in recovery mode since.

Gerrard initially stated on the 11th of last month that Rossiter ‘might be out longer than Dorrans’ and that has been sadly extended by at least another two weeks as concerns persist over the ex-Liverpool player’s fitness.

With Dorrans’ own fitness impossible to currently gauge without the imminent scan results, we can only hope Rossiter’s two week extension is the final closing straight of the unreal injury nightmare this potentially special young player is going through.

In fairness, his latest knock is pure bad luck, and is in no way related to the earlier problems which so dramatically derailed his first two seasons at Ibrox, but we have to say if he and Dorrans could achieve fitness, and be selected in their proper positions (Dorrans would be pretty useful for the ‘Iniesta’ slot at the apex of midfield Gerrard likes to use) they could save quite a few millions in the transfer market.

But what would you readers do with them?

  1. I just don't rate Dorrans, never have, groaned when we signed him. Rossiter is a cracking lad and a HUGE talent we stand by him till the last, his time will come.

  2. Give them some time,2 good players just need a bit of tlc, lets be patient

    LETS GO WATP 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  3. Fact is, they are both under contract and nobody else is going to buy a player who is not playing.
So, let them get fit and see if they can earn a new contract. No point in paying them off, doesn't save us a penny. If Rossiter in particular can turn it around, could be worth millions

  4. I agree that they need time, and anyone who KNOWS their football will know that in rude health they are high quality players with plenty to offer the group, don't forget that latterly we saw an uncharacteristic side of Dorrans' game when with frustration he was lunging into bad tackles (due to Master Windass pulling out of them!) and young Rossiter has never pulled out of anything, and indeed was a regular in the young England sides prior to his troubles, the other factor is that I believe "THE GAFFER" has faith in the character of all the squad that he has enlisted , and it is important to bear in mind that with all the grit in our midfield it is also nice to have that we bit of class and subtlety that can unlock a defence.

  5. Keep Dorrans

Sell Rossiter …Boy is Just Made of Glass and plus if we have Jack, Holt, McCrorie, Docherty and if we sign Coulibaly we wont really need him
