“Fun to watch him bleed” – SPL opponent takes aim at ex-Rangers sttar

We’re used in this country to seeing some unpleasant intentions aimed towards Rangers. The past seven or so years have seen an escalation in the nastiness targeted at our club, and while no one likes us and we don’t care, we also feel the urge to defend ourselves against those who would hurt us.

And one such is Peter Hartley. The Motherwell captain, probably getting the reaction from the likes of Ibrox Noise and others that he wants, has proudly boasted about enjoying watching former Fabio Cardoso weeping on the turf with a broken nose against Motherwell’s Ryan Bowman in a genuinely appalling incident which smashed the Portuguese’s noggin and laid him out for weeks.

And Hartley, keen to ensure the ring and stench of violence continues, eagerly admitted his side won’t show Rangers any respect on the pitch this weekend and has inferred willing to play dirty to get a result.

Compliance officer Clare Whyte is already in due process of investigation of the comments, but not only are these utterances clear baiting, they cross the line of acceptability.

There can be a real underbelly of filth in our game, and Hartley appears to have thrived on adding to it.

We get feistiness, we do. We applaud stoking the fires and saying something edgy in the build up to a match, to create more fervour around it.

But actually acting like a football fan who cheers when a player goes down injured and downright getting off on blood and tears running from his face is a cerebral viciousness and cruelty we thought well below professional footballers on any level.

Even as a troll, even as bait, this comment was utterly diabolical and we’d expect Ms Whyte to take serious action against Hartley for it.

  1. the best way to shut pricks like this up is by destroying them on sunday, get 3 nil up and then as souness used to say “ get your retaliation in first”.

    • Agreed Andy, we're also a different team from last year. Hope Stevie G sticks a large poster of that inbreds comments in our dressing room and fire our team up to blast that vile scum to F@#K!! Bring it on!!

  2. This typical of what those who have an agenda against us do at every opportunity. Its sickening and reeks of jealousy and hatred . Winning the league and shutting all of them up is the only real answer . I wouldn't waste my energy even lowering myself to comment on that scum. We need to rise above this

  3. Peter who? Never heard of him. Another nobody who needs to talk about Rangers to get noticed. Although it's probably easier to talk about us. It avoids the fact they zero points and zero goals so far. I'm sure that will continue come sunday

  4. If these attributed comments are genuine, then Scottish football is in a dark place.
Our supporters cannot exactly claim to be angelic, especially on a vocal level from the terracing and stands.
Personal insults, however, should be castigated big-time on an overall level.
Cardoso, living with the constant expectancy that he was never likely to make the grade, certainly does not deserve this kind of spurious abuse.
Quite what Hartley hoped to achieve by his comments is simply beyond me.
Satisfaction will be guaranteed at the weekend when we rip The Steel Men apart.

  5. He has now apologised for saying what he said, but what use is that? It's clearly what he thinks. It just exemplifies what Rangers fans think about Motherwell and a few other teams in the league: they are just a bunch of thugs masquerading as footballers.

  6. Get in to a 3/4 goal Lead and then get one of our players to do a Neil Simpson on Him! 👊

Go on Jack! …We will allow you this red card given what Kipre did 😂

    Fckin Prick!
…Hope He Gets a Career Ending Injury and fucks off back to Englands Div 3 where we never have to hear the name P.Hartley Again 👊

    • Really? The bloke is a twat but that comment makes you sound as bad as those sheep shagging cunts that celebrate the assault on durrant I'm afraid

  7. Does he really think this rangers side can be bullied by the we boys of Motherwell bring it on ya tube

  8. Poor comments from a so called professional footballer and the captain of Motherwell. Certainly the SFA should take notice and action. You cannot allow players to stoke the fire in this way and let it lead to mayhem during the game. I would also hope Motherwell FC would be big enough to take action against their captain but I won't hold my breath.

  9. Never heard his name before today. Doubt he will ever be remembered for anything else when his pointless career ends.

A disgrace to his club and his profession.

    • …after M'Well he will.go back down to England (lg2 🤔 maybe) and just disappear 😂👊

      Good Riddance to the knobhead

  10. Poor show from a so called professional footballer and captain of Motherwell. The SFA should definitely take action. You can't have players promoting this type of hatred or you'll have anarchy on the pitch. I won't hold my breath though. I also think Motherwell FC should seek to take action against their captain. He brings their club and himself into disrepute.

  11. SGs comments on this subject today are genius, he has calmly defused the situation while bringing a pumped up Hartley and his team mates back down to earth, basically SG has pissed on Hartley's parade and Hartley will be too dense to even see it, well done SG.

    • He's also put the player and Motherwell firmly in the spotlight and put pressure on the referee to take action. Maybe this week we will get a fair crack of the whip.
Sorry, I'm talking rubbish. They'll get away with murder as per usual.

  12. This 'Thrashing' we have all been waiting for Rangers to dish out
…Hope its M'Well on the Receiving end this Weekend 😁💪

    Come On! Lets Go!!
    5-0 to Rangers Please 🤔👊

  13. He may have apologised but he was told to by Motherwell. He's still at it saying that Goldson and Katic "won't know what's hit them". Hope SG pins up these comments in the dressing room on Sunday.
