500,000 reasons Rangers can do more business…

With Rangers’ confirmed passage to the third round of the Europa League to face Slovenians Maribor, the most quickly-forgotten bonus of making yet another stage of this competition is the increased funds it generates.

Lest we forget, the first round secured us 240,000 Euros – so now the second round being negotiated has instantly doubled that and Rangers have clinched half a million so far.

Beat Maribor (starting to look feasible) and that becomes over 750,000 Euros – suddenly Rangers are earning serious cash with plenty more to go if this current steely run of form can continue.

Naturally, we wish to wait to Sunday and the premiere of the Premier League at Pittodrie before we can put any further judgement on this Rangers team’s chances this season, but in Europe it is currently delivering, no question.

Steven Gerrard seems to be getting the knack of continental competition from the technical area despite never having played in it as a player, and each round of qualifying his Rangers team can negotiate is another injection into the coffers with still time left in the transfer window to do business.

It’s half a million guaranteed – enough to clinch Kyle Lafferty at least.

  1. If KL is anyway inclined to come "home" the tall one should get all continental and put a transfer request in Then start dragging his his heels taking morale down ?
At the end of the day £350,000 is still a lot of money

  2. Yea maybe – or maybe DK will use to pay off Mike Ashley's highly paid squad of contract lawyers. I notice Ibrox Noise has had absolutely nothing to say about this whole sorry episode; that just set our retail operation back to the stone age. So we pay £3 million just to get Ashley out of the building, then Dave king doesn't even bother reading the termination contract, before signing it. Now Ashleys got dodgy Dave bent over his, and is about to fuck him up beyond all recognition. But hey, you keep peddling this nonsense about how everythings great, and we're minted having got through 2 qualifying rounds. WTF?

  3. Let's not forget the income generated from 3 full houses at Ibrox which must be in excess of £1m for each game. In fact get to the Europa League group stage, and I know it's a hard task, we could be pushing £10m all in. That's exactly the type of income we need to get us back to where we belong.

  4. Yes its all good business for the club,350 max for Lafferty or keep him,
Talking about business can I.N confirm the position with the shirt saga where are we with this

    LETS GO WATP 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  5. Like Robrob's point. 3 full houses, 50,000 at each, add TV money, advertising, pie and bovril etc, etc. We should easily be clearing £1 large each time, I would like to think we will have done almost £5 million before we get to the group stage. IF we can get there.
That would give us the money to go fetch another CB and a third striker. Still gutted McBurnie signed a new contract instead of coming up the road. Would like to think scouts can find someone better and younger than Lafferty. he didn't score many league goals last season, excepting against them

    • Unknown – you may be looking at all goals which include cup goals against smaller teams. In the league he was fourth behind Boyd, Morelos and Windass.
Stevo, yes he did, although I thought it was 3 against them. Still more than Rangers.
BUT, Windass got more league goals than Lafferty in less playing time. So if that is the measure, its a no brainer, we play Windass.
I do not and will not forgive the TBs (Traitorous B*st*rds) for walking, paticularly the "Rangers fans". People like Goian stayed loyal, Lafferty walked then blamed bad advice. As defendants the length of the country do.
If others want him back that is up to them. If I thought he alone could deliver for us, I might tolerate him, but I will still never forgive him.
But as I said, can't believe we can't find a younger version with sell on value. Try Sadiq and Rudden or Dallas while we look. All older than DJ when he scored in a cup final

  6. We Just Have to stay in the competition as long as we can!

Literally dont care now if we have to win every game with a scrappy 1-0
    …Just Keep Winning 👍

  7. The revenue from European competition will have been factored in when looking for return on investment made this summer. I doubt it will be extra money for players, not it would buy much. If we’re talking group games with numbers around 5M then some will naturally go on playing budget January. . . . but that’s getting ahead of ourselves.

    • I doubt if anything other than the first European game would've been factored in since we wouldn't know how far we would go. We are now into our third home game with a full house. That equates to at least £1m for each match. Add the prize money so far and we're pushing £4m even if we don't go through.

  8. Fat Ashley, I can't stand the guy, but that said, he's a shrewd businessman. Dave King, I feel he struggles with transparency, when it comes to Rangers fans. Keeps us in the dark. But supporters groups, should be representing us and making sure we know what's going on. When I hear him, you get a feeling of competency. But he has some reputation, in SA, for shady business dealings. Don't quite trust him, 100%.
